Too damn crowded. Went here on a Saturday (should've gone on house music night) and could not move. The place was full of big frat boys challenging each other to drinking games and degrading every woman that would walk by. There were also a lot of Indian people here so one corner of the place stunk of curry. I'll go to a less crowded place and avoid the meathead crowd.

Surprisingly Fun. Got "dragged" here for a coworker's birthday and must say it was a surprisingly fun time. I had read some of the reviews and was nervous that this was going to be a litle overly hipster and that my lack of tattoos and piercings would leave me twittling my thumbs in a corner. Alas I was proven completely wrong. Great crowd, stiff drinks, and a killer 80s dj. Will surely not be such a grump going into the night the next time I'm invited back.

Lovely Ladies and Great Drinks. They always have great specials. The bartenders are amazing. The drinks are poured right and the atmosphere is always welcoming. Trying to get out and meet someone... try Lava Lounge. Every night pulls in a different crowd.

This hard-rocking venue with a cave-dweller interior mixes great music with stellar drinks.. The Scene
The booths and the cozy nooks carved out of molten lava speckled with bits of shiny coral and junk glass may suggest Bedrock more than bohemian. But the eclectic stylings are meant to reflect the artsy South Side neighborhood in which Lava Lounge resides. Many of the denizens who flock here nightly work in the nearby galleries, boutiques and studios.

The Draw
A wide range of entertainment fills up this lounge's dark, crowded back room, including a vaudeville-style revue on Mondays, house music on Tuesdays, live alternative bands on Wednesdays, acid jazz on Thursdays and funk and disco throwdowns on the weekends. Whatever the entertainment, all of the mixed drinks are strong--especially the martinis and bourbon-based cocktails.

Sweet sweet Lava Lounge. I have yet to find a cooler place in Pittsburgh. The inside decoration is awesome and you get a nice alternative to the garbage pop music that's coming out right now.
