Rude Staff. went in to get a drink but wanted to use the restroom first. was told in a very harsh and rude manner that i had to buy first, THEN use the restroom. i have never been treated so poorly at any establishment in my life. when i tried to tell her it was an emergency, she told me to get out. stay away from this place. they have no manners, no sense of courtesy to any one.

Longest running "Best of" restaurant in Pittsburgh. I eat lunch at this place almost every week. Every place can have a bad day, but the last two reviewers are crazy, and it looks like they slam every place they go.

Look at the editor's review and the city paper sends them awards every year. City search has sent them awards as well.

Honestly, even though the building is not pretty, the food is great. The corned beef is excellent, the italian meats are form the strip, and the bread is from Breadworks.

My only complaint is the place needs to be updated. It is not comfortable to watch a game or event on the televisions. Sometimes i get delivery so i don't have to deal with the wait.

As a longtime southside resident I still like to go to the smaller places instead of all of the chains that are taking over Carson.

Nasty! I would give zero stars if I could.. Calling this place a "New York style deli" is a travesty. I lived in New York for four years, and even the most humble bodega deli was far superior to this place. On one visit I had a prosciutto sandwich. The "prosciutto" was dry and the only flavor was salt. On the second visit I had a pastrami sandwich with utterly bland pastrami. I will not go back to the Carson St. Deli, despite the fact that I live just a few blocks from it.

WORST DELI IN THE BURG BY FAR!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY IF YOUR SMART. Its possible this was a decent deli at one time, but trust me when i say, NO MORE!!!!

Haven't had a really good Corn beef in quite some time, and after reading a few of the reviews about the Carson St. Deli, i thought for sure I'd get one here. in short is was HORRIBLE!!! Worst corn beef (if thats what you call it) i ever had. Dry, tough, not all Corn Beef by any stretch.

To top that off, i ask the sandwich maker behind the counter if they had French Fries. His response was some sort of mumble. I asked again. his response was, "Can't you hear?" I said i don't understand Tardese. This guy from what i can tell is basically a MORON with an attitude. To top all that off, 2 Horrible sandwiches and a drink came to 18.00. Now it may be me, but i think that's a little high to pay for 2 Terrible, Bullsheeet sandwiches.

I've traveled the world. Even wrote food articles for a Local paper at one time, so trust me when i say, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE WITH THEIR HORRIBLE FOOD AND ATTITUDES.

On a 1 to 10 scale, i rate this place -20. Seriously! Has my Vote for WORST DELI EVER IN THE BURGH BY FAR!!

Needless to say, i will Never go near this place again. Theres TONS of other Deli's around the city that simply destroy this place, which by the way, wouldn't be a bad idea.

Best deli, hands down.... My family has been visiting this deli for years. They have recently done a few very minor renovations which have greatly improved the interior look of the store. It looks like the new coolers, new floor, and some paint has given this place a needed refreshened look. The food is still as good as ever, and now they offer so many kinds of beer. I think they could use a new awning but it serves its purpose during the hot sunny days.

Bottom line is the food here is fresh, delicious, and award deserving.

Great food, good prices, fun outdoor seating.. This place may be small but their food is big and tasty. Freshly sliced meats and bread made my giant sandwich good to the last bite. Wash your sandwich down with a cold beer and sit outside and listen to the radio. I have been there many many times and will keep coming back!

Delicious...Highly Recommended. Although I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I entered the older historic building on Carson Street, I tried this place based on seceral friends recommendations and the best deli award which they seem to always claim year after year. The food was fresh and reasonably priced. I had the Sicilian which was packed with Parma meats, fresh roasted red peppers, and oil and oregano. My girlfriend had the veggie burger. I was hesitant but happily surprised when I tried the spicy bean burger. It was fabulous qand had tons of flavor. They have beer singles and six packs, I will deifinately return.

Good location for quick meal. After a 5:30 performance at City Theatre, we wanted someplace convenient and good for a quick meal before heading back to Indiana PA. We chose the Carson Street Deli -- and were delighted with our service and our food.

A pound of meat, a 1/2 pound of cheese and whatever fixings you can smash between two slices of bread.. The Scene
Talk about energy! Four or five people squished into a 10-by-10 space are bumping around like pinballs, and creating enormous deli-style sandwiches in minutes. If you're in there long enough to get a seat, you'll notice?amid the hanging garlic, dried peppers and sun-dried tomatoes?snapshots of various patrons taking a break from the South Side Summer Street Spectacular, braving the annual bar crawl or enjoying a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

The Food
If anyone says there's a superior place for a sandwich in this fine city, they're either lying or their taste buds are on hiatus. You can't find a better corned beef and swiss on marble rye or a tastier veggie Roma. And try to beat the Godfather: "sopressata and imported DiLusso Genoa salami on a baguette with provolone, olive oil, oregano and roasted red peppers." Fit for a king, or a mob boss ... whatever the case may be.
