Used to be my favorite. Now I'll skip it..
Up until a couple of weeks ago the Beehive was my favorite coffee shop. I have been a frequent customer for nearly 10 years. But, I think tonight is the last night I will be going.
About ten minutes after the four of us bought our drinks the music suddenly became obnoxiously loud and the lights were turned off. Not turned down, off. We asked for the light above our table to be turned back on, but we were firmly told no, that they were "setting a mood" to sell their shot specials.
At least five other tables cleared out almost immediately. A few were replaced by girls buying cheap shots in dixie cups. It was rather pathetic to be surrounded by tarted up girls buying their own bottom shelf shots.
I thought I'd never say this. But, next time I'm in the Southside I'm going to Starbucks. Even during the day the Beehive has lost my business. Its become just another cheap and trashy bar in the Southside serving cheap drinks in plastic cups.…
Great place to Study. I love this place! Very cool atmosphere, friendly people, awesome selection of food (vegan to meat-lovers). Coffee is freshly ground & french-pressed :) Definitely will go back!
Best Beehive coffee house place!. Very good taste drink!! n very comfortable relax I been go there 1993 to now!
Great coffee, wide variety of foods/tea/coffee, amazing atmosphere!. The Beehive is an experience from another realm. The decor is wild, some of it is retro, some modern, and all of it mismatched and whimsical. The staff are unconventional, and friendly. The clientele ranges from high school students to dotcom geek types who are there to play DDO. The coffee menu rivals that of Starbucks, but with a much more soulful feel. Due to governmental regulations, they no longer allow smoking, however the great atmosphere, and free wifi, more than make up for the nonsmokng policy. I highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for an interesting place to hang out without spending much money. It's an idea place for a date, a study group, or for meeting strangers off the internet. Parking is problematic, but with a little persistence, it's doable.…
Good coffee.. Nice place to hang out by yourself or with friends. Wireless internet allows you to bring your laptop to work on. Can be quite busy on fri and sat nights. Mixed crowd of ages, but mostly younger.
