The Scene
Regardless of how others may feel about the American musical idiom, this bar, with its patrons seated around the bartender in a big circle, not only supports the R&B scene, it puts the bands on a pedestal. Singers and instrumentalists at the Primanti brothers' house of music play in a place of reverence: on a balcony high above the audience.
The Food
Famous sandwiches, with French fries and cole slaw placed inside the sandwich, are the things to order. The hot sausage is an underrated jewel. But ultimately, as Shakespeare said, "music is the food of love," so play on. This cafe delivers the goods nightly--with weekly gigs from local legends like Bobby Wayne and Tony Janflone Jr.

If you are looking for a fun place to go, this is it! One of the bartenders is a riot to watch (the older gentleman) as he makes drinks often times in unconventional ways....this very much adds even more entertainment value to an already great place to hear live music.

Cons: parking after 7pm

No place like this for live music... a primanti sandwich and the Tony Janflone band are a Pittsburgh institution. Don't wear your best Sunday clothes in here!
