Amazing italian Food

by iupnut325

My fiance and I used to go here all the time to eat but since we moved about an hour away, we only go here when it's for something special. We had made reservations at a fancy place in Shadyside, but I changed my mind and wants to go here instead. It is def. worth the waiting time!

  • Pros: Best Tomato Cream sauce In Town!
  • Cons: there are no draw backs!

Go here for great Italian!

by JB2009

Although I am originally from the area, I now live out of town. I have been here a handful of times before, and have always had a good experience. I took my husband here over the weekend (Valentine's Day weekend 2009) and had yet another good experience.

I ordered the chicken parm and my husband had the steak and shrimp. We were treated to a basket of fresh-baked Italian bread warm and moist with butter and garlic. Wonderful! The salads which accompanied our meals were good, albeit a bit boring, just the standard iceberg with cucumbers and tomatoes. The wedding soup was divine. I believe they have had rave reviews on their wedding soup before. Believe it or not, this was the first time my husband ever tried wedding soup. He doesn't even like spinach but he remarked how much he liked the soup.

My dinner had 4 large pieces of chicken. Normally I think a restaurant would have only one or maybe two pieces of chicken. The portions are quite generous. The chicken was lightly breaded and had the perfect amount of cheese. I also had a nice-sized serving of spaghetti with what tastes like homemade noodles. I only wish I had more of the sauce. There was plenty to take home.

My husband's steak was done just as he asked (medium) and the shrimp were ginormous. Truly the largest shrimp I have ever seen, even if that sounds like an oxymoron.

We topped it off with dessert. My husband had theh chocolate mousse cake and I had the pecan ball. We were out early on; again, the portions are large.

The wait staff were friendly and the whole atmosphere is inviting and not pretentious at all. All told, it's a great little restaurant with tasty food, generous portions, and it is quite reasonably priced.

  • Pros: Food, Service
  • Cons: Parking, The seating could be a bit too "cozy" for some

Best Italian Food in Pittsburgh Area

by PAEpicurean

This is the best Italian food in the Pittsburgh area. A straight shot from Pittsburgh on Allegheny River Blvd, or easy access from PA turnpike Exit 48, reservations are needed almost every night. The prices are reasonable, yet the wedding soup is the best I've had, each entree comes with soup and salad, or try the Italian hot sausage + pasta dishes that are out of this world. Wait people are friendly and quick, and all staff really care!

  • Pros: Value price for excellent food.
  • Cons: Parking is tough but usually someone is leaving as you arrive.
