NOT Great.
We were there last weekend.
The chicken parm was swimming in oil.
Also the girl at the entrance was too busy texting to notice us while waitress was NOT attentitive at all.
Nice looking place but poor management.
Doubt if we will return.
Excellent Food and Servie. Great restaurant in the area! I live in Murrysville and even though I heard the name, I have never eaten at Wooden Nickel until last night. I went there with my wife and daughter. The restaurant is under new management and according to older reviews I believe it's a great thing. We loved everything about our visit. The food was excellent (we had NY steak, sea food and lamb chops). Service was also great! Between bread, drinks, salads and dinner itself there was no wait time whatsoever. As soon as we would finish with one plate, the next one came. I never had to ask or wait for drinks either, our waiter would ask if we would like more wine as soon as one of the glasses was empty. Another thing that we noticed is extremely friendly atmosphere and it's not fake friendly. We will definitely be back!
This place is a joke. Overpriced, poor Management. There was nobody in the place for lunch, this made sense after our experience. The food was very over priced, and tasted ok at best. The service was terible. They sell gift certificates and won't accept them at the point of sale. They said the gift certificate was for Dinner not lunch. It didn't say that on it. The manager was not helpul but given the situation I'm sure she gets alot of complaints on a daily basis. I would't go back if they paid me. There are plenty of goog places to eat in Monroeville. This is certainly not one of them. Go to Luccia Sheas, or Palmeiries, or Nick Maries, for food priced the same but actually worth the money.
Keeps improving. This place just keeps getting better. The infusion of cash by the new owners has turned a small smoky bar into one of the few really good restaurants in Monroeville. The kitchen puts out good quality food (it always did) and the wine list is reasonable. Sevice is usually very accomodating and good, but this is a busy restaurant and sometimes things just get lost. Try to sit in the outdoor patio (even in winter) it is heated and provides the best (smoke free) atmosphere.
wooden nickle. not very good service for the price of the food and drinks. a beautiful restaurant and outdoor area.
