Awesome experience. I don't know what the mixed reviews are about....

I had an incredible massage and it was very reasonable in price.

In addition, the staff is very professional, experienced, and obviously trained well. I will not hesitate to go back! (In fact my next massage is next month....lol) Make sure you plan for about 15 minutes before and after whatever you get done so you have some extra relaxing time. They will not rush you out!

Things Never Change ! Unprofessional and same Crooks!. Things never change as this company hires fly-by-night staff who have little to no experience in the industry. An embarassment to use the word "spa" in their name. the only thing relieved during our visit was our wallet.

FYI:

Westmoreland County

Dorothy Andreas Floro and JoJo A. Marengo, t/d/b/a The Sewickley Spa, license nos. CB106086L and CT012360L of Ligonier, Westmoreland County, were ordered to pay a civil penalty of $300 because of several violations, including that the salon was not managed by the salon owner or a licensed person in charge designated by the owner. Not sure who you are, or what your goal is. Jojo Marengo has not been a part of my company for 11 years. Civil Penalty? Violations? At one of our locations, a license was removed from display under a former manager, and I paid to have a new one issued. Staff.....we hire and train licensed professionals. Not everyone is cut out to deal with the clients who frequent high-end spa's. When this happens, we act responsibly, with our clients comfort at the fore front of every decision we make. I run a transparent company, and welcome any and all constructive comments -it is how we improve this company. If you would like to make yourself known, and fully understand the way I run my business, please contact me directly. Dorothy Andreas.

Will Return With Friends =). Two of us recently visited this spa for the first time, and found it to be

great. The employees we had were accommodating and skilled. We both agreed

we got excellent facials and pedicures. We have paid more in other places,

for far less quality.

The building is full of character and history, and it was very clean the

day we were there. The art and furnishings were of better quality than we

have seen yet.

I read the other reviews here, and could not help but wonder if we were in

the same place. The other clients we talked to that day all seemed to be

enjoying themselves as much as we were. We thought they did the best job

of making us feel comfortable. There was no pretense that happens in some

places, just great service. We are going back with another friend in a few

months. The only down side was that we had to wait a few weeks for a

Saturday appointment, but is was worth the wait.

Awful. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! ALL I CAN SAY! RUDE PEOPLE. NOT WORTH IT! You can go to many other places and get better service for less money.

Waste of time and money. I received a gift that included 1 hour massage as well as a 1 hour facial. When I arrived I I was advised to change into a robe which they provided. I then sat in a room with 4 other women and waited for my name to be called. No one guided me through what I was to expect. They provided cookies, water, tea and cake. I was called and walked up the stair of creepy old house to then get ready for my massage. The massage therapist began my massage at 4:08 and was done at 4:38. What happened to the hour long massage??? I waited in the dark room for about 15 minutes until I was then greeted by the woman who was doing my facial. The staff was very friendly. The massage was just the woman putting some oil substance on and very gently waving her hands over me. Barely a massage. Very dissapointed. The woman who did my facial took long breaks in between things. i was with her for about 40 minutes, But with many boring breaks in between. I walked downstairs to check out only to be harrassed by staff waiting around for a tip. I am upset that I waisted my time there. All the hype and a very poor result. ladies don't waste your money.

A bit disappointing. My husband gave me a gift certificate to the Sewickley spa for my birthday. After waiting a few weeks to get an appointment, I went for a hot stone massage, pedicure and brow wax. The house is nice and welcoming as is the front room. It took the receptionist a few minutes to hang up from her personal call to get me signed in. Then I put on a comfy robe and slippers and sat in the relaxing room. There were teas, cookies and water - all good. Unfortunately, there were no tables to rest anything on. My pedicure was good but the woman didn't seem to like working there - spoke about having to wash the towels during her off time. My massage was also good as was the brow wax. The physical facility could use some work. There were walls peeling in the bathroom, some of the paint looked very tired and it wasn't as clean as I would expect. After going to Nemacolin, I guess I was spoiled but this place did not meet my expectations, although the services were acceptable.

Excellent Service, Environment and Experience. After a recent visit to their Sewickley location, I understand why this spa has won 33 'Best Spa' awards -and others try to imitate them. This is the only spa in the city where we truly felt like we were experiencing the relaxation associated with our vision of a spa. It came highly recommended by friends and co-workers, and I will recommend it to others. The spa was beautiful, comfortable, inviting, clean and classy. Every one in our group enjoyed their services, and agreed they were far superior to others we have tried in the city. I would recommend the Sewickley Spa to anyone who wants a great day spa experience.

The area spa synonymous with the word "Ahh...". The Scene
Ask any well-pampered woman in-the-know where to go for one of the most sublime spa experiences in the Pittsburgh area, and she's going to point you to the banks of the Ohio River, where Sewickley Spa is located. And be sure to check out her manicure as she does so. This premiere spa--also for men, by the way--offers all you'll need in skin care treatments, body and massage therapies, body waxing, makeup, and salon services, and of course, they also have a complete nail salon.

The Experience

Cushy robes and slippers are provided to clients, who are free to nosh on their complimentary cookies and fruits, and drink the house beverages like there's no tomorrow. (A great piece of info if spas make you thirsty.) Imagine how impressed your friends will be when you tell them you've just had "algae contouring body masque with Thalossabath."

Fabulous, Relaxing, Professional. After hearing wonderful reviews about the Sewickley Spa, I decided to take a day to myself and induldge in a few of the services offered. The spa was everything I could have imagined and more. The staff is well trained, professional, and friendly. Being so pleased, I decided to go back only this time to the Sewickley Spa in Ligonier. This experience was even more pleasing than the first. Never have I encountered a staff so knowledgeable and welcoming. With a warm welcome from Stacey the "spa day" was off to a good start. It just kept getting better as the day went on. Dana gives marvelous manicures and pedicures, Joanne gives the best massages, and Amy's facials and waxing are phenominal. My brows never looked better. This spa is truely a blessing to the area. I have recommended this spa to everyone. I can't wait to visit again.

Spa a la Rip-Off. To experience the Sewickly Spa then read the editorial endorsement, one assumes the commentary was a paid advertissement. My experience at the Sewickly Spa was so unprofessional and uncomfortable; it stands alone in the worst spa day of my life. I'll generously skip over the aloof receptionist (she did not offer a beverage while waiting) and get to the lowest points. The rooms were freezing-the masseuse was ill mannered(he asked me if I wanted a "Butt Massage"), and continuous gossip between employees was heard in halls. Onto the "relaxation room" where 10 robe clad women crammed onto chairs and bumped into each other while"noshing on snacks". Please. It was so crowded, we were waiting in the HALL for a seat to "relax". All this pampering for a mere $230 (tip excluded). If this is "Pittsburgh's Finest" I suggest a spa in Butler County.
