I recently relocated to PGH from Atlanta, and had to board my Jack Russell for almost 2 weeks while we were moving into our new home. I took a tour of the facility and was impressed by the cleanliness and size. The play areas are big and kennels have outdoor/(heated)indoor areas, which was important to me because it was winter. I did have to pay additional for my dog to get playtime when I was boarding him, which I thought was odd. In my previous experiences in Atlanta with dog care, kenneled dogs are allowed to play with the "doggie daycare" dogs. Now that it is warmer here, the grounds are wonderful to walk my dog. We especially enjoy the pond and the play areas are also fun with the obstacles and tunnels. The only con's I can think of are all the "extras" you have to pay for when you are boarding and the drop off/pick up times. It is pretty much impossible for me to use their day care service because of the early pick up time. While paying $5 to bring my dog to play on the grounds could be a con, it seems pretty reasonable. About the above negative post- I don't know the particulars of their situation, but I do know that I was required to bring my dog's vet history and he had to be neutered in order for him to be boarded there. Most kennels/doggie daycare facilities require that the animals be spayed or neutered ( and proof given) before they can be accepted.

Mr. Jeff Wood and his staff are unreliable and do not accept responsibilty for their actions. We scheduled our female show dog for grooming at Misty Pines. The staff had been informed multiple times that our female was in heat and was to be isolated. They agreed to this. We had even asked for them to kennel her when she was not being groomed. We offered to stay with our dog until she was groomed, and then take her home. We were told that this was not policy. The day of her appointment, a careless staff member placed our female in the open play yard with an intact male. Exactly 60 days later, we had an unplanned litter of half-breed puppies. We have requested that Misty Pines reimburse us for the cost associated with the litter. Mr. Woods has refused ( however, he doesn't deny that the event took place. we have dna proof) This is blatant irresponsibility and lack of safe-keeping of a pet entrusted to their care. DON'T LEAVE YOUR PET AT THIS FACILITY!!1 Try English Acres - a wonderful enviroment, and extremely dedicated owners.
Cons: Thumbs down. Irresponsible staff and owner
