Patient, Professional, and Reasonably Priced. Despite the bad reviews here, I hired Don Farr because they gave me the cheapest estimate--by far--for my local move. I'm so glad I took a chance with this company. The movers were quick, efficient, and very careful with my things and the walls and woodwork of my narrow doorways and halls. They carried large, heavy furniture up 4 long flights of stairs, around narrow turns, and didn't leave a smudge or a scratch. When, in spite of many patient attempts, my sofa didn't fit through the door on the first level, the movers took it to the second floor entry and brought it back downstairs once inside. Best of all, the guys kept a great sense of humor about everything, even teasing my hyper-vigilant husband ("whoops--we just tore all this wallpaper off") and joking that, if we ever move again, we shouldn't call them: "tell our boss that you want a whole different crew. Say we were lazy--the worst ever." I'm happy to say neither is true: the movers from Don Farr were outstanding.…
Enjoyed the Company. After living in my home for 30 years I had to move once my husband passed away. My daughter helped me find a moving company to store some of belongings and move me in with her. And as sad of a day it was for me the 3 young boys they sent me helped make the day a little more enjoyable. We packed up a lot of memories but I was so happy to have the help. I would recommend this company.…
DO NOT USE THIS ORGANIZATION - HORRIBLE, CONS, STINK!.
Do not use this organization for Long Distance moves. You have been warned! You are using this company at your own risk if you do decide to hire them.
I moved from Pittsburgh, Pa to Philadelphia, Pa. The price was reasonable, however, when the company called within 40 minutes of picking up my belongings in Pittsburgh, Pa and demanded the remaining $1000 balance after weighing my goods, SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY WARNING SIGN!
My belongings were delivered in Philadelphia, Pa 5 days later with a missing Flat Screen TV and slate, solid, wood dining room table snapped in half. The movers stated that they had no clue what happen to the TV and/or the Dining Room Table. The only theory according to the Movers was that someone must have jumped on top of the table to steal the TV and snapped the table in half. However, the truck only made 1 stop in Harrisburg, Pa and the remainder of the time was spent at their Headquarters in West Mifflin, Pa, therefore, it had to be a an inside job.
Needless to say, I filed a compliant with the organization and a claim for my missing Flat Screen TV and Dining Room Table.
2 MONTHS LATER I GET A CHECK FOR $103.00. YES, I SAID THAT CORRECTLY, $103.00 FOR A FLAT SCREEN TV AND DINING ROOM TABLE.
Please note that they lost the TV and they snapped the Dining Room Table in half. NOT ME.
I have reported the company to the Better Business Bureau and am filing a Small Claims lawsuit again the organization.…
Totally disappointed. Let me start out by saying that I have only written a review twice on service but I feel that people should know what kind of company you'll be dealing with if you use Don Farr. I got quotes from several companies and they were not the cheapest but it was a name that I recognized so I hired them for a short local move. The one positive thing that I will say is that they arrived on time on the morning of the move. It quickly went down hill. There were three movers, one was more drunk or hungover than the next. They had two speeds, slow and stopped. I specifically told them that the furniture that they were moving was brand new and I wanted them to be careful not to damage it. They tore my mattress which voids the warranty. They then moved my dining room table which is a pub height table without removing the legs. They spent a half hour trying to get that table up 2 flights of stairs and through 3 doorways without taking the legs off and this is after I told them 3 times to take the legs off. Could you be any more lazy? Honestly? It's not rocket science. Long story short, my table got damaged as well (scratched and a chunck of wood was missing). I made the movers aware of the damage immediately and filed a claim. I got $126 months after filing the claim. I would not recommend this company. It's bad enough that the movers left alot to be desired and damaged my property but the way that you are treated when filing a claim is even worse.…
Trust the Better Business Bureau F Rating!.
I hired Don Farr for a move from St. Louis to Pittsburgh and had a HORRIBLE experience with the company. I was going out of town the weekend before my move and was sure to call and confirm the
pickup date the day before I left. Just as my plane landed the next day I received a call saying they were showing up three days early (the day after I got back). That was okay.. schedules change and I was able to finish packing in time. The movers were very nice, although it took them about three hours to move a very small 1 bedroom apartment with exclusive use to the service elevator.
It was getting my belongings that was the issue. The guys who dropped my stuff off were rude, granted it was early in the morning so I offered them drinks and later tipped them but they acted like they didn’t want to be bothered. Shortly after they left I realized I was missing about 3-4 boxes (other companies keep track of items as they unload???) – this was a lot considering it was a small one bedroom apartment move. I realized it was about 700 dollars worth of stuff that was missing. I immediately called the company and they directed me to a voicemail where I left all of my information. I never heard back so I called again within a few days, I was redirected to the same voicemail where I left my information, and never heard anything. I finally send the company an email where I got a cold response saying to request a specific person in change of claims. She said they had no record of my two previous messages (don’t trust any voicemails you leave!) and they would send me claim forms. As soon as I received the claim forms I immediately filled them out and sent them in. This was in March. I called over the next several months and they were “still investigating”. At the end of July I received a check for 90 dollars, and the most horrible letter you could imagine from a service company. The letter said they realized this was significantly less than the value of what they lost but it was in my contract and do not contact them again because they have deleted my case. I cannot begin to explain how frustrated this company left me with its horrible customer service and the apathy toward losing my belongings. Also beware of what you sign at the time of pickup. They ask you to inital about 20 times, make sure you know what youre signing, otherwise you could be in the situation that the company refunds you 12% of what they lost because you initialed beside one line of fine print.…
