Too liitle for the price. Too big a deal about tomato bisque. Most anywhere, tomato bisque is Campbell's with a kick. I admit that the Sherry Bisque is nothing to brag about. Their food selections: well prepared and tasty. Not a place to go if you are in a festive or hyper mood. Young people are scared off by quiet- reserved atmosphere anywhere. BUT, high brow meals don't go with Olive Garden setting. Personally I can't take the noisy disorganized restaurants that most people wait in line for. You'll get personal, polite attention at the Hyeholde. Presentation is magazine-like and tasty as well. Portions too small for the high price you pay . I've never been disappointed with the quality of food. Desserts are excellent . What makes me think that the poor critiques are by people who also smear places like Helen's of 7 Springs or the Carlton Downtown.
Great atmosphere and food. The Hydholde Rest. is a very romantic place with excellent meals. We enjoyed everything - the salad, appatizers and main course. We left full and satisfied. A bit high on price, but for a special occasion - very worth the experience and cuisine. We highly recommend the restaurant.
This Place is a Joke!.
I really cannot believe that some people actually like this place! Everything, the food, service, the "so called" Chef and even the restaurant manager are downright pitiful. Please don't think that the age old saying "You get what you pay for" applies here. The food that they call "Fine Dining" is just stolen from any famous chef's cookbook and then "poorly" recreated and then presented to the customer as something original.
I would know because I trained at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). I urge anyone that works hard for their money not to WASTE it here.
P.S. I noticed on their website that you can take cooking lessons from these short-order cooks for something like $225.00, What a JOKE!
Avoid.
The Hyeholde, as most reviewers have commented, is vastly overpriced - with very average food.
The service is prompt and polite, however the ambience of the place is stuffy and very outdated.
Save your money and go elsewhere!
Nestled on four acres, New American cuisine and elegant ambiance always provide a romantic experience..
The Scene
Valets graciously relieve guests of their cars under the front arch. A grand staircase leads to a space often used as a dance floor when the place is hosting a wedding reception; selected tables and booths lie in close proximity to either buffet tables or server stations. A number of intimate dining rooms deeper into the site are lavishly furnished and themed.
The Food
Befitting its rural manor style, the Hyeholde specializes in New American favorites with a touch of country French influence. Traditionalists will enjoy the succulent filet or hearty rack of lamb. Those looking for something a little more exotic may opt for the Hawaiian royal sunfish, the venison strip or ostrich prepared to individual specification. Banquet/special occasion menus can include everything from breakfast selections to dinner buffets; cash or host bars are also available for private parties.
Don't Waste Your Time or Money!. This restaurant is extremely overrated! It is poorly managed from the dining room all the way back to the kitchen. Rumor is the famous "Sherry Bisque" is made of Campbell's tomato & split pea soup! They consistently cut corners, which isn't fair to a customer paying an average of $55.00 for a dinner that is less than fine dining. Spend your hard-earned money at a restaurant that truly cares about you.
Bring your wallet!. Best atmosphere around! However way overpriced for what you get. Food was great however, alittle more goes along way. Waitstaff connot be topped, efficient without being intrusive. Never felt rushed or a bother to the staff. Desserts, Desserts, Dessrts!
where's the beef?. Since changing owners the Hyeholde has gone downhill. The serving size is meager and the prices too high. They are getting by on the old reputation. The last time we ate there, we went to Montour Hts. afterward and had dinner.
Pricey though confined. Have been there for lunch celebrations several times and I still feel confined at times. There is something to the old charm though the dress of the servers are somewhat from the olden times. The menu prices seem pricey though I must admit that the food there is great and would b ehard to find elsewhere. Service is excellent.
Great for Vegetarians. The vegetarian plate was wonderful! Creative and fresh, it utilized many of the fresh vegetables of the season.
