Carnegie >Mike Jones Floor Company Incorporated
We originally used Mike Jones Floor in
our house in Dormont. Mike did a beautiful job on the whole house. When we went to sell the house is sold in 5 days I believe the stunning job on the floors played an important role in the sale.
So when it was time to get our family room redone in our current home we called Mike Jones. We had prepared by emptying the room of all furniture and covering things. However, the process was much cleaner and the odors where much better then when we got our Dormont house done that I am saving up to get other rooms done.
The entire communication of the work was great. The floor looks wonderful. I would recommend Mike Jones Floor to anyone.
Good work, questionable customer relations.
I've had a mixed experience with Mike Jones Floor Company. He has done two refinishing jobs for me, both in Upper St. Clair. The first was in an approximately 50-year-old house we lived in for 13 years. Mike refinished the oak floors there before we moved in, and they were absolutely beautiful for the entire 13 years. Then we moved to a house in the same neighborhood. This house is also about 50 years old. Mike refinished these floors before we moved in as well. But on moving day we noticed that the floors seemed dull and were scratching easily. So I called Mike. He came out in a few days and agreed that we had to put another coat of polyurethane on the floors - apparently they were so old and dry that they needed more than the two coats he used. Painfully for us, this meant removing ALL the furniture, which we had just paid a moving company to move and place. Mike did not ask for any additional fee for the do-over, but he did not offer to help move the furniture. Many of our friends and family felt he should have stepped up and done that, but we just wanted the job done and we were willing to meet him more than halfway. The floors are now gorgeous, and everyone compliments them. But now on to my third experience with Mike, or should I say his company.
I am now embarking on a kitchen remodel, and I called Mike to get an estimate on laying hardwood floors in the kitchen. I want these to match the floors in the rest of the house (which again, look terrific). I called the company and spoke to a receptionist who said that Mike's next available consult appointment was on a day a couple of weeks in the future, somewhere between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Though that wasn't ideal, it was okay, so I took the appointment. The receptionist also said that they would be calling the day before the appointment to tell me a more specific time. That sounded reasonable. So, the day of my consult was supposed to be today. Here's what happened:
Yesterday a receptionist did call and left a message asking me to confirm the appointment. I did not get a chance to call back during business hours, but I did call back early this morning before Mike opened for business. I left a voicemail and said, yes indeed, I made the appointment for today. I also said that I understood that the previous day's call was supposed to tell me a more specific time (which it did not). Finally I said that I was expecting Mike and would see him sometime today. The receptionist called back about an hour later to tell me that Mike left this morning without my estimate (I don't quite understand that, since he didn't DO my estimate yet - maybe they meant paperwork?) and that he therefore could not come to my house today. Then she asked if he could come tomorrow. Unfortunately he cannot - my family has plans for tomorrow and we are unable to be here for an estimate. The receptionist went on to tell me that because I didn't confirm yesterday, this schedule issue is my doing. Of course I disagree - During my original call to schedule an appointment, I was never told that the appointment wouldn't happen without YET ANOTHER phone call from me. If I were told that at the time, I would have considered it an irritation, but I would have done it. As it is, I DID call before they opened today, but clearly that is not sufficient for Mike Jones Floor Company.
The bottom line is, Mike's refinishing work is gorgeous (just make sure he uses enough polyurethane!), but for this job, I have two other estimates from floor companies who came out to my house less than 48 hours after I called them. I've decided to go with one of them.
EXCELLANT SERVICE & RESULTS!. Mike Jones Floor Co recently did the floors in our Family Room and our Nursery. We had torn up carpet in our 95 year old house and found oak and pine floors respectively. My husband and I did our best to remove the linoleum and newspaper from the floor in the Nursery but it still looked pretty bad. In the Family room there were many spots of water damage and pet stains. Mike Jones Floor Co was able to restore both floors beautifully, in spite of the less than ideal condition. They worked well around our busy schedule and the finisher (Chas) followed up with me personally to ensure my floors were stained the correct colors.
Mike Jones Floor Company did a GREAT job!.
They did a fantastic job on refinishing the original hard wood floors in our upstairs and downstairs hallways. And out of all the estimates we received, they were the most reasonable!
They came in and did the job while we were away on vacation. They are local boys so we knew we could trust them. :) We left the color of the stain up to them, I just wanted each level of the house to look like they blended into the other hardwood floors in the rooms that were connected to the hallway...they EXCEEDED my expectations.
I'm sorry to review the few poor reviews here, and felt obligated to put down that they gave outstanding service and quality in their work!
THANKS MIKE JONES!
