Rude staff - will not be returning. It was my first trip to Past Too (new to the South Hills). I read the other reviews about the hostess. I will agree she was VERY rude. It was an older woman. I don't know if she owned the restaurant or not, but she didn't ask me my name or greet me, just said "over an hour wait." My husband isn't one to take any attitude, especially from somewhere where he will be spending money - so we left and will not be returning. As I have heard, the food there is not as good as it was in the past. I doubt I'm missing anything. Too many restaurants in the South Hills to try...
please update times. we had a party of 10 there for lunch on sunday for my sisters 50th birthday at 11:30 because web said they opened at 11. unfortunately they did not open until 1p. not good for customer service when you look on their website & make plans accordingly & then find out its the wrong time.
Please get the pizza guy's name right. . .. as a loyal pasta too customer, it causes me great distress that some of these reviews don't have pasta too's incredible pizza chef's name correct!!! his name is JOHN!! he is the best pizza maker in the south hills. and although all the food at pasta too is delicous, i am partial to the pizza, hoagies and calzones there. all the chefs there are great at their jobs and deserve much praise!! let's see, there's scott, kevin, scott and JOHN!!
Why would you go anywhere else????. I have to say for as long as I can remember this has been the most consistant restaurant as far as quality , quantity and holy moly have you had the sauce and soups ? Hey where is that pizza chef Sean he was great !! Ray, Scott & Scott you know what I like !
Customer serive. We always call for at take out to avoid the wait. I just called and got hung up on. I called back and got put on hold for a very long time. I gave the girl my order. I requested that it be picked up at a certain time, that was fine. She never asked for a name or phone number. I said " You need more information." She acted like I was insulting her. She was ready to hang up. My husband usually calls. He said "Oh, they do that every time".The food is not as good as it was, but still decent. I don't think I would wait for a table. It is great for take out food. The girl on phone was just in the wind.
Nothing like it used to be.. I went to Pasta Too for lunch today.... I was so upset. The newer location next to South Park was nothing like their old smaller location. Back when they were in the old location it was all about the quality of the food... Now in the bigger fancy restaurant, they seem to only worry about looking like a trendy place to eat. The Hostess was very rude, when I told her I was just a party of one, she made a rude comment and started to laugh. I should have just walked out then, but I was really looking forward to some pasta. My waitress seemed like she was trying to rush me out, and on my way.... I went for lunch, and there were only a handfull of other people in the place, so it was not like they needed the space! The food did not taste like it used to, the sauce was on the thin side, and had no real flavor. I don't think I will be returning to Pasta Too anytime soon! It is a real shame how bad the food is now. I would have walked to the old location on broken glass, but now I would not go there if it was the last place left in Pittsburgh to eat!
Go early (try to get there around 5) to avoid a long wait. I don't know what's up with psugirl, but the red sauce at Pasta Too is the best, and I'm an Italian woman who loves her italian food. I'm very picky with tomato sauce and their's is outstanding. My husband and I go to Pasta Too ALOT because of their great service and quality food. I wish the owner would franchise this place so there is more around in the Pittsburgh area, so we can avoid the long waits. We can always count on Pasta Too for an excellent and fullfilling meal. If we want Italian we don't go anywhere else, Try their yummy breadsticks!! I think most of the waitress/waiter staff is excellent, and they are always so nice to my daughter. There are a couple waitresses that I can think of that seem to be miserable while they are there...but for the most part, I have always had excellent service. My husband and I go there at least 2 times a month!
Just Average. I am not sure what the big deal is about this restaurant. There is always a long wait and once inside, the food is not the best either. The red sauce is definitely not what I am used to and I dislike it very much. There is also an extreme amount of garlic in every meal, to the point that I have gotten sick after every meal I've had there. Unfortuantely for me, my family really enjoys this restaurant so I"m going to stick with salads from now on. (They are good.)
chicken parm is the best anywhere, size of portions are huge, service is great, best desserts. They have the best italian bread with dipping oil that you can get anywhere. Bread served warm. The portions are so big that we always eat for a entire second meal. The food is always served hot. The service is always great. The only complaint is that you always have to wait to get in, they should have made the place bigger when they moved here. The deserts are also huge and great tasting. The six layer chocolate cake is the best anywhere, and the pumpkin cake cheesecake mixture is wonderful.
What a dissappointment!!. After moving to the area recently from Florida we thought we would try Pasta Too having heard good things about it. I must say we were very dissappointed. We had heard there was usually a wait so didn't even mind that anticiapting a good meal. The service was OK, not great and the salad was good BUT when the entrees came I thought my spaghetti and meatballs tasted exactly like Spaghettio's!!! Hopefully this town expects "more" than that from Italian food???? The sauce was so out of the can tasting like Chef Boyardee that I couldn't even finish eating it. I would rather eat at a chain Italian restaurant than ever go back to Pasta Too. Certainly there has got to be some good authentic Italian restaurants somewhere in town??
