bad out weighs the good. I am very disappointed in the deli service. In the past, the service had been very good, but recently it has been terrible. Is it customary to give away free lunch meat to friends/relatives? I have seen this happen more than once where an employee (a dark hair, thin older guy with glasses) adds extra slices to the order after it has already been weighed. Are the rest of us paying for this with higher prices? One nice plus, though, is freshly sliced meat.

The bakery offers a wonderful selection of delicious goods but there is no expiration date on them so freshness becomes a guessing game.

Speaking of freshness, I have learned to check expiration dates on everything I buy there. I have gotten everything from cake mix to Faygo with past due dates.

The only great perk Golden Dawn has is their awesome meat department. They have the best ground meat ever. The butchers are among the friendliest.

If you shop on the weekends, prepare to be solicited on the way in or out by kids representing various youth organizations asking for donations. It seems that selling candy bars and various items to fund raise is a thing of the past. Now our youth are taught it is okay to beg for money from shoppers who barely have enough money to pay their grocery bill.

RIPPED OFF AGAIN!!. THIS MORNING [27 SEP 2011] @ 1000 AM I STOPPED INTO GOLDEN DAWN FOR GROUND MEAT.AS I PASSED THE DELI COUNTER I DECIDED TO GET SOME MEAT AND CHEESE AND ROLLS.I PICKED OUT MY GROUND MEAT AND WENT TO CHECKOUT[CATHY].ANOTHER GIRL WAS BAGGING.APPARENTLY,WHILE DISCUSSING THEIR HAIR AND EYEBROWS,SHE FORGOT OR DIDN'T SEE THE GROUND MEAT BECAUSE WHEN I GOT TO MY KITCHEN IT WASN'T IN THE BAG. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE STORE WHERE I WAS MET BY "OH,I PUT IT IN THE BAG". WELL,SHE DIDN'T PUT IT IN MY BAG.I SUSPECT THE WOMAN BEHIND ME GOT FREE MEAT.$5.00 IS A LOT OF MONEY TO ME. THAT WAS GOING TO BE MY SUPPER.BECAUSE YOU HAVE MORONS AT THE CHECKOUT I HAVE TO SUFFER.THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Bad Experiences. I've lived close to the Golden Dawn for about a year now, which is the ONLY reason that I've continued to go there thus far. However, after my experience today, I won't be going anymore.

I've had bad experiences with almost every department. The staff has been very immature in front of customers, and acting very unprofessional numerous times.

There are items being sold that have past expiration dates. Not to mention, I've bought meat from the meat department that was bad.

Today, I bought an onion that had bugs in it, which was the final straw.

Everything seems overpriced; you can find it for cheaper at other stores. Plus, the store, overall, seems unclean.

I won't be going to the Golden Dawn anymore.

Great Fried Chicken. Good meat dept...better ground chuck than big stores. Produce so-so. Good people work there. Fried chicken better than KFC (horrid stuff). Love the broccoli salad from the deli. Smaller and easier to get in and out. Double check some bakery items sitting on the tables for expiration dates. I can't say enough how much I detest lazy people that block egress into lot by sitting and waiting in no parking zones. Hate 'em all!And I will ask them why they think they are so special! I shake my finger at the older ones that should know better and tsk tsk the others.

Best Meat in the Burgh. Friendly service, delicious fresh bakery items made everyday, and the meat department is hands down the best quality that you can find in Pittsburgh.
