great food!!. the food was great, and the service was even better. i enjoy my visits and will continue to eat at the carriage inn. I also plan on using their catering service, i have heard good things.
How do they stay in Business???.
I am so sick and tired of trying the Carriage Inn over and over again, and leaving disappointed most of the time. I wouldn't go back at all if my elderly mother didn't force me to, and this evening (Sunday) it was the one place open in the area.
The only item I have been happy with is the fried fish, but how can you mess that up???!!! I have had Steaks cooked to the wrong temp every time, Stuffed Flounder frozen in the middle, Salads delivered to me with the wrong ingredients at least 3 times, and tonight, just iced the cake.
The service and the food was a disaster this evening. I sat without silverware forever, the server kept promising to bring it; then I change from Iced Tea to Coffee because the place was freezing and I get a dirty cup with food pasted to the edge: never rec'd a spoon and there was no sugar on the table.
I was still charged for the Iced Tea instead of the Coffee (the server actually asked if I wanted her to change the charge when I brought it to her attention)....of course I want to pay for the Coffee not the Iced Tea!
I ordered the Philly Steak Perogies...I rec'd frozen perogies, dry steakem, with canned mushrooms and cheese melted over it...Dry as could be. So, I paid almost $12 for total frustration!!!!
I had to wait for the check too long because they had to change the charge from Iced Tea to Coffee; I also had to ask twice for a roll to eat with my dinner. I shouldn't have paid for anything, but did. I did not leave a tip because the whole experience was just awful.
I read the other review and I can't believe they have cars in the parking lot all the time, I don't get it. I have heard so many nightmare stories about the Carriage Inn. When you are in charge of a Restaurant you have to care for every guest, I know this because I have been a Restaurant Mgr for 19 years. I just can't stand by and let it go.......I have worked so hard for so long to give the public outstanding service and product that it would be a disgrace for me to let this go....It is actually insulting to me to have people continue to accept this restaurant as being descent; why waste your money???
Don't use this caterer, VERY POOR customer service. WEDDING PLANNERS BEWARE ... DON'T USE THIS CATERER!!! I recently attended a wedding catered by The Carriage Inn in Elizabeth / Lincoln Boro. While cleaning up, the catering staff threw away my only pair of prescription glasses into the garbage. The staff neglected to help search for them, and NEVER offered any resolution. I had to ask them for their manager's name, and was told Judy (Gibala). I called the business on the following day to talk to a manager, and to see if my glasses were found. The man who answered identified himself as David Walls - Owner. He refused to hear my story, and immediately became belligerent with me. He soon hung up on me after screaming horrible obscenities. I was able to speak to Judy on the next day, and she agreed that the owner should not have spoken that way, but said that there isn't anything that she can do. In a letter responding to a B B B complaint however, Judy took the opportunity to make slanderous remarks about me, and contradicted most events as they happened. I wish for payment for my glasses, and an apology from David, Judy, and the other staff involved.
