Great except for the seating
by HailPitt at Citysearch
The food is like an explosion of flavor for your taste buds. Really really awesome. Its a very narrow tight space which is bit annoying. My wife and I waited for an hour at the bar to be seated then when we were up...they just moved us down to 2 counter seats without ever telling us that we werernt going to have a table. Pretty lame seating. Everything else is an A
Trendy and Delicious

When I moved to Pittsburgh I was scared that I would not find the kind of trendy feel I got when visiting restaurants in my home town. When I stepped into Tamari, I had a familiar feeling, like I was home again.
I have visited Tamari 4 times already, and never disappointed.
The robata skewers are delicious! Try the beef, chicken, zucchini, and mushrooms. Dip them in all the sauces. They are to.die.for! The filo tiger shrimp with the coconut saffron sauce is unreal. The house salad was okay, but nothing to write home about. I know plenty of folks that would have killed for that tempura bacon, but it was too much for me. The Maki is delicious! So fresh. I couldn't get enough of it. I had both the tuna tacos and the mushroom tacos, and both were superb. You only get two tacos, which is simply not enough- a third would go a long way. The pepper sauce on the tacos is out of this world. Lastly, the three mushroom salad was just perfect. Big portion, lots of mushrooms, great dressing!
I can't write a review without mentioning the martinis! Have fun and try as many as you can. They are all creative and incredibly delicious.
- Pros: fresh, fun, comfortable
- Cons: might leave hungry... FOR MORE
Delicious and fun!

I have been to Tamari three times and have loved every experience. The fusion of asian and latin is brilliant and somehow works well.
The duck quesadillas are delicious, so is the calamari. The sushi is fresh and expertly prepared and the green tea cake is heavenly. With that said, make sure it is a fresh cake and not one of the last pieces. Otherwise, it's a little dried-out. The green-tea martini's are also excellent. Don't be afraid to try one...especially if you like drinks that are not too sweet.
I would recommend sharing a bunch of small plates. It's perfect for a group.
- Pros: excellent fusion
