Avalon >Mia Madre Trattoria
best italian food in area. this was my 3rd time at mia madre and absolutely love it. the homey atmosphere, staff and mangement waiting on you always making sure you were o.k. (that is a true italian going to nonni and pap's for dinner thing, everyone was constintly asked if everything was o.k. do you need anything. i used to frequently (weekly) go to a ital.rest. that used to be in shadyside.....pasta piatta. it was the best italian place i had ever been to. when they called it quits i was so upset because where am i going to go for good real italian food? ive been looking for years and finally found it 2months ago.......mia mardre. i have yet to have a bad meal and whoever we take love it. our st james mothers dinner group went tonight and they all loved it as well. the tiramisu and cannoli are unbelieveable! my daughter is coming home from college end of apr and before she goes on her trip to africa we will have a family dinner there because she will be eating less than average food in africa and we want her to go off with a belly full of excellent food. so glad we found you, pls put an add in the sewickley herald, you'll get customers. people here are always looking for a new place to eat that is close by.
easy on the garlic!!!!!. should change their name to "the GARLIC warehouse" I like garlic, but my god! I could smell it from two blocks away! The overpowering smell was giving me a headache and making me naseous before I could even enter the establishment, so I never got to try the food. I would love to dine there, but the smell is noxious.
In a word.... Fantastic!. My wife was on her way home from work the other day and saw this place and mentioned that it looked like a small hometown Italian place. So we decided to give it a go. I couldn't be happier that we did. To say the least the service was superb, the atmosphere was great, and the food was phenomenal. I had the steak une-a-boli... wow. If you like steak Stromboli give this a try. It was not at all your traditional steak Stromboli. The outside of the dough is glazed in a butter, Parmesan sauce and the inside had a great blend of spices, cheeses and ranch sauce. So good. My wife had the Chicken Ramano and if you haven't read the tribune review about this I suggest you do so. I would highly recommend this place as a great local place to dine in Pittsburgh. They also have a bring your own bottle policy for a 2$ uncorking fee. I would highly recommend Mmia Madre Trattoria to anyone looking for a great place to eat!
