In November, Pepe, our lab mix, had his 3rd episode of paralysis. Although we live closer to another 24 hour vet facility, we chose to go to PVSEC for treatment.
The ER techs came out to our vehicle and gently placed Pepe on a stretcher. He was then taken to the back for evaluation. Dr. Borland spoke with us about his exam and treatment plan, which included keeping him overnight and then transferring him to Dr. MacKillops (neurology) care in the morning. We were allowed to see Pepe before we left.
Dr. MacKillop met with us that evening to discuss Pepes condition. He reviewed the MRI with us and showed us the area of concern. We were presented with options for treatment, including the pros and cons of each. Dr. MacKillop was up front regarding the costs associated with each option. We never felt forced to choose one treatment option over another. It was our choice as to how to proceed.
Surgery was performed the next afternoon. Dr. MacKillop personally called to let us know the outcome. We visited with Pepe throughout his hospitalization. The techs and physicians were always available to answer our many questions.
Pepe had a long recovery period. I am thrilled to say that we have been able to resume daily mile walks in the neighborhood.
Nothing but the best!.
Both of my dogs have been patients at PVSEC. They were treated like royalty from the minute I took them in. From the front desk staff to the the technicians all the way to the doctor's, they (and I) received nothing but compassion and respect.
I apprecitate the most that they were up front with me about costs. They never made me feel like I HAD to spend money I didn't have and were honest about what my dog actually needed.
Definatly a first rate facility! There is no place else I would take my dog for an emergency or a specialty problem.
Excellent Facility. I can't say enough about PVSEC! They are awesome! Our hunting dog had to have surgery this summer on her cruciate ligament. The staff was wonderful! The surgeon was so nice and explained everything! Her surgery went well, she recovered quickly, and is already back in the fields hunting again! We will highly recommend this place to everyone we know!
Honest and up front.
The price is not for everyone, but they were up front about it and it was my choice whether to proceed.
As for the medicine and facilities, they are second to none. My dog received awesome care and I received awesome communication while he was hospitalized.
Bottom line - you get what you pay for.
We took our cat there in February after he woke up with a swollen tongue and had blood coming from his mouth. They made us pay $2500 up front before they would treat him. It was all for naught as they said they couldn't do anything for him.....but waited 2 days and costly treatment before they told us that.
We rushed our dog there this weekend due to what we thought was a rawhide blockage, but ended up being bloat , due to the closeness to our house and that it was 2 in the morning. We were told we would need to pay $4500 for bloat surgery or put him down. Bloat is a RAPID acting problem, so we couldn't even take him to another 24 hour vet as he likely wouldn't have survived the car ride.
They gouge you on fees, expecting you to pay anything to save your fur-babies. Never again.
HORRIBLE first experience. Raped us with prices - Dog DIES.
I would give them a 0 star if it existed. THis was an insulting experience. We were greeted in the waiting room and never seen in a clinic room. Our pet was whisked away, never to be seen alive again.
They told me my girl needed an Emergency Operation to save her life. She was in shock, They did not take xrays or blood tests!!!! We ended up with a $3,000 bill and was told our dog had cancer and had no hope
The vet was in a room finally with us and he told us the outcome and all of a sudden the front staffer came in with a final bill for us to sign off on..
BTW-they use north boros for cremation which is down the street, but they tack on a 50% additional handling fee. RIP OFFS. They knew my dog had no hope , but were trying to bill us for everything under the sun....
Very indifferent "professionals" I DONT TRUST THEM
WHAT A BUNCH OF THEVIES. WHAT A BUCH OF THEVIES ! These crooks have one agenda and one agenda only, steal as much money from pet lovers as fast as possible. And they have a bunch of fancy equipment to convince you - and charge you - that your animal needs a lot of expensive treatment. AVOID AT ALL COSTS OR PAY THE COSTS !
PVSEC Killed our cat. This place killed our beloved 4 year old cat Merlin. Stephanie Nelson was the Vet on duty. We took him into this place not knowing there was others like it. He had only been there once before a few months earlier. You try to do everything for your pet you can. After his urinary tract procedure, the nurse brought him out to us, and he was handed to me. He was shaking and twitching, and within a minute he died in my arms, I felt his last hearbeat in the waiting room as he fell limp and died. They could not revive him. I have been having nightmares about it for weeks. Stepanie also offered the cremation for free, which admits fault as far as I am concerned. They also took back the medicine and cat food without giving us a refund on any of it, and she said she would refer the medical file to the owner and he would call me about the full refund. Well 10 days went by, no one called. I called them back and gave a lady who answers the phone named Allison the info again, and it is 10 days after that, and no one has called. I filed a dispute now on my credit card, and have the attorney general involved as they are ignoring me. We think the Vet gave him too much sedative or released him too soon. We took our cat in for a routine procedure and he came home in a baggie. Just beware.
they killed my puppy. They killed my puppy that weighed only 7 oz by trying to insert an I V needle into her hip bone!!! THey said she died of cardiac arrest! They will lie to cover up their misstakes. They had me pay before they said my puppy had died. She was there ONLY to have a dextrose shot and they killed my precious baby!
