Gillece employs sales reps, not plumbers.. Gillece rips people off constantly. Do not call them! Their motto is to replace instead of repair. You need a new handle for your toilet? You need a new toilet for 2,000. You need something for your furnace? Time to buy a brand new one for 10,000!!! Gillece has sales people, not plumbers. Google "Gillece complaints" and listen to some of the stories.
Hard to justify a $5000 plumbing bill..
Our regular plumber is a one man company and he was on vacation so I called Gillice to replace a flush assembly on a 12 year old toilet (ancient right?) and to replace an 18 inch section of drain pipe beneath the bathtub that had a small leak in it. I was told they'd never find the flush valve for that toilet so they'd need to replace the whole toilet. It took me one phone call to find the valve 3 miles from my house for $50. They also said they couldn't replace the one section of pipe so they'd have to replace the whole length of pipe (about 8 feet).Hmmmm...I'm sensing a trend here. Surprised it wasn't suggested to bulldoze the house and build a new one. Total estimate $4000 to $5200!!! When we told the tech to get lost he got pissy and questioned why we even called him to come out. Certainly not to rebuild the entire plumbing system.
Call Gillice and then call the police.
Try Anyone BUT Gillece.
I was out of town and our furnace went out. My wife called Gillece and they came out and said we need could do 3 things.
1. Band Aid fix the current furnace for $1250
2. Replace most of the furnace $3000
3. They recommended a NEW furnace for $6000
I got a 2nd opinion and the serviceman said I needed a small part for my SIX YEAR OLD FURNACE. Cost $125!!!!
These guys must make one hell of a commission and they give the industry a very bad name.
Call Gillece!!. I was skeptical about calling Gillece with all of the negative reviews that were posted, but I gave them a shot and was pleasantly suprised. Everyone that I dealt with from Gillece was very polite and professional and I never felt pressured to do anything. The serviceman Jim was a true down to earth Pittsburgher that I trust. I will highly recommend this company to anyone and am very happy with the service that they provided and the prices charged. Great value in my opinion.
I Love HOT Radiators!!!. Called several companies when our boiler went out. Gillece was the only one promised same day and they lived up to their promise. Since we moved into our house over 15 years ago, we have been constantly complaining about the radiators in the family room that never seem to heat up. Ron from Gillece was checking out the piping after getting the thermocuple replaced and discovered that there was a valve that was choking off the flow to the family room that he opened and instantly we had a wonderful warmth in the room that we never thought possible. OMG!!! Can't believe that we lived this way for 15 years!!
Very Professional - Class Act. This is a class act, very professional, prompt, clean cut and they do nice work but... they're really expensive! I had two hours of work done (replacing a crawlspace turnoff, a dripping shower, and a broken line to an outside line. It came to over $500 when it was probably only $150 in parts). They did do a great job of confirming appointments, sending via e-mail a confirmation of service call, and following up but shop around and you can probably find somebody to do the job for less. They did show up within a few hours of setting the appointment and they did give me the quote up front, so it's my own fault for agreeing to the work.
worst rip off I have seen in years.
Try to sell you an over priced new that can be fixed rather than replaced
Scam. They wouldn't tell me the cost of a new water heater until they came to my house and charged me a $75 fee. The rep had a book that listed the prices, which they clearly could have quoted me over the phone. Turns out it was $3000 for a new tank. I had another plumber quote me $600 for the same tank over the phone. And I was still out the $75 just to learn that Gillece is a rip-off. To me that's a scam.
Great. Great experience with this company. Good service and reasonable. Called Gillece last Friday to come check our air conditioner. We tried to start our central air for the first time this year and it didn’t work. Glad we got this done early, now we are good for the year!
Why do so many reviews sound like ads?. Why do all of their many negative ads read like they were written by real people, but the positive ads sound like they are expertly written to include details about their latest special and a nice story about emergency service or treating seniors well? I highly doubt that these are real reviews based on how many bad reviews are out there on other sites and complaints to the BBB against them. They tried to rip me off for thousands, buyer beware and do more research!
