Endless Problems With Contractor.
Endless problems with this contractor. The worse I've dealt with while remodeling my home. Scope of work included installing a forced air furnace and AC in my attic.
Lets start from the beginning. First they installed the furnace and did not adust the gas pressure on the unit, so it wouldn't light and stay lit.
Then they installed a ceiling vent flush with my crown moulding. When I asked them why they did this, they said its hard to figure out exactly where the vents go, and I never said I'd be changing the moulding. I had them move it, and now I have a hole in my ceiling. I asked them if the vent works just as good and looks just as good in its new location. They said yes. So I asked them why it wasn't put there in the first place. They had no answer.
It was impossible to remove my air filter without it being shredded to pieces because the air plenum they used was poorly made. They claimed this was normal.
He ran gas line that was not to code TWICE, and each time he assured me it was. He eventually fixed the pipe correctly, but not after I spent weeks getting proper documentation (by calling the gas company, the state inspector, the fire department, other contractors, and the furnace manufacturer) and threatened to take him to small claims court.
William Leslie also didn't tape the vapor barrier on the register end of my ducts, as is standard practice. He claimed this was not in his scope of work.
And throughout it all the owner William Leslie argued with me tooth and nail about every issue I had. He claimed that he had done "Excellent Work". However, I found out that he never set foot at my house except to quote the job and on the last day when he came to collect the check. When I called him out on this, he said "I'm fifty something years old, I don't climb around in attics anymore".
My father is an electrician in Connecticut, and when he came to visit, he told me in his 30 years working in this country he had never seen such a poor quality job. You would think a guy would be embarrassed to do work like this when its his name on the side of the truck. Now I can only hope that my AC actually works.
