I love Ethiopian, but..... I've been meaning to try Tana for some time, having been to the other Ethiopian in Pittsburgh several times. I'm sorry to say it was disappointing in pretty much all aspects, aside from the decor, which was bright and welcoming. We went for lunch and there was one server for the entire restaurant, so I can't fault her for the lack of personal attention. We had a sampler for two in which we could choose five dishes. This is an exciting way to try as much as possible at a new dining experience, however when it arrived, the dishes seemed soupy and quickly congealed into one another, tainting the flavors of the individual dishes to the point where none could stand out as special. The vegetable dishes were quite acidic with a strong vinegar flavor. The beef was by far the best dish, but also the one we were served least of on the sampler for some reason. As the meal progressed, it grew more unsavory as the flavors continued to flow into one another on the messy, soppy platter. I would suggest to the chef to clean up presentation of the food, as it would make it much more enjoyable rather than just the sad result it turned into. No wow factor at Tana, I'm afraid.

Best Ethiopian Food in Pittsburgh!. The food is excellent and the service is great. The owner is very friendly and attentive. Try the Dora Wat, it is great. The food is reasonably priced and they have a full bar. You will enjoy it.

Authentic Ethiopian Experience. Our family dines at this restaurant several times per month and we LOVE the food, the atmosphere and the owner! A must for anyone!
