Don't waste your money. My girlfriend Lisa and I had a really lousy experience with Ms. Ritchea at Back to Basics. We just stopped in to look for help for her stomachaches. Sharon did a ph test, told Lisa her ph was out of balance, sold us a bunch of herbs and supplements, and told us to come back in a few weeks. When we did, my girlfriend took another ph test, which showed the same numbers. Sharon's instructions? She told my girlfriend to double up on the amount of the same herbs she was taking! It made no sense, and when I started asking a few questions, Ms. Ritchea was very dismissive towards me. My girlfriend tried to ask the same questions, and Sharon started talking so fast, it was like she was amped up on something. She tried to sell us a bunch more herbs and stuff, but they were expensive and since she had started taking them, Lisa was feeling worse. We were not about to buy more, it already was a big waste of money and time. Turns out Lisa was allergic to soy. Nothing to do with her ph balance. Just my opinion, but this lady is selling snake oil.
I have been seeing Sharon Satterfield for 3 years now. My children also see her. She is one of the most knowledgeable naturopaths I know. There has never been a health problem that I have encountered that she could not totally turn around with nutrition and supplements. When I first met her, I was very sick. I had the start of IBS among other things, hormones were out of balance, gaining weight, my lymphatic system was not functioning well, and low thyroid function. After a few months, all my horrible symptoms were gone. I am 42 now and feel better than I did in my 20's.
My 17 year old son was baffling his doctors and pediatric allergy specialists. They could not tell us why when he ate certain fruits, he would get bumps all over his lips. They told us to wash the fruit better, which didn't work. Sharon did a simple pH test on him and discovered his levels were out of whack. She got them back into normal range with supplements and he now enjoys all of the fruits he could not touch. She has also done wonders with his allergies. This kid was on asthma inhalers and two types of allergy meds. Now most years, he just breezes through allergy season. Sometimes he needs a simple "tune up" with Sharon, but nothing like before.
Sharon is a true healer. She is one of the few people left who really care. I recommend her all the time. Me and my kids haven't even been to a medical doctor since we have been seeing her. She knows exactly how to get your body healthy and heal itself making itself stronger.
Back To Basics and the owner Sharon Ritchea, (formerly Sharon Satterfield) are a scam. Sharon is the area regional manager of Nature's Sunshine, A Multi-Level Marketing company, and when she is in her store, she is pushing Natures Sunshine, and Natures Sunshine only.
Sharon keeps her eye out for women who are experiencing hormonal difficulties, and she pounces on them, as she did me - seeing someone out of sorts and vulnerable and perfect to turn on her warm, friendly charm, while selling a product that has come under investigation for the ingredients they use.
I got very sick using the products Sharon Ritchea prescribed, and when I started doing some research, I was horrified at what I was taking, Sharon is so confident and reassuring when one first meets her, that, at least in my case, I simply did not question her expertise. Very, Very foolish.
Her credentials are nonsense, not worth the paper they are printed on, and when she is questioned, about her methods or products, she is dismissive and condescending.
After spending $800 at Back to Basics, only to get seriously ill, I asked for my money back. After months of hassling with her, I got about 1/3rd of my money back.
The minute I stopped taking all of her prescriptions, I began to feel better, and with the help of an honest health food store and an honest alternative medicine practitioner, I now feel great.
I was not going to write this review, I do not like to write negative reviews on small businesses - If I do not like them, I just do not go back.
However, it has come to my attention that three other women have been taken to the cleaners by Sharon Ritchea, and I feel it is important to warn people that Back to Basics and Sharon Ritchea are not out to help you, they are out to fleece you, and do not care if you get sick.
