I am an ex employee of Sybil Salon. I am not disgruntled or mad. I just know that Sybil, the owner, writes most of these reviews herself and has asked the staff to write some and me too. To read some "real" reviews, I will post a couple after what I am writing. Most of these reviews are "too good to be true" and mostly 5 stars? Sybil is nice when you first meet her but she isnt very nice afterwards. She is very mean actually. I actually heard from another stylist while I was working there that Sybil reads these reviews and if there is a "bad" review, she will write a good one herself one herself. I bet the next review will be great about her or the salon to cover up the bad review. Sybil get a life. Here is one real review: Mixed Experience Next, my haircut...well...I won't tell you the name of my stylist, but I never felt so insignificant in my life. While we were talking about my hair and how much to cut etc., she had visitors and other people interrupt us. I felt like I was intruding on her personal time with friends. During the cut, I tried to strike up a conversation, but she was more interested in speaking with other stylists and customers. The cut itself is pretty BAD. I was happy that she didn't harass me to cut more, but she refused to cut my bangs the way I like. I understand it may not look super chic to have shorter bangs with long hair, but I like to cover my forehead a little bit. Also, I don't cut my hair as often as I should...in a month or so, my bangs will be long enough. I was very unhappy with my haircut. If you go, be sure to work with a stylist who is willing to do what you want.

I moved to Pittsburgh about a year ago and was very nervous about finding a hair stylist that would live up to my expectations. I consulted citysearch to find a salon and was instantly drawn to Sybil because of the proximity to where I live. I choose to listen to the positive comments and ignore some of the seemingly brash criticisms - my intuition was right on! My first appointment with Stephanie was amazing and I have gone back to her SEVERAL times since. She never ceases to impress me with her highlighting and cutting capabilities. She always listens to my preferences (have you ever gone to a hair stylist that cut off WAY more than you asked for...Stephanie won't!) and blends the color perfectly (and believe me, I let my highlights go a little longer than they should). If you are looking for reasonably priced cut/color and an atmosphere filled with people that truly enjoy what they are doing - you do not want to overlook Sybil. While she has never cut my hair I have seen her work many times and Lisa does a great job too - you can't lose!
Pros: Fun and skilled staff, reasonable prices
Cons: Free parking can be tough to find, but their is a cheap lot right across the street!
