WONDERFUL CAMP. We took our dog for the first time yesterday 08/20/11. Wow what great people!! Carolyn, Desirae & Kim are wonderful!! Great customer service and fantastic with the animals there! We feel that our "kid" will be well taken care of & felt comfortable leaving him there for the day.Very clean and organized. I am sure the next time we bring him, he will be happy to go. Thanks Camp Bow Wow - Great place.
Our Dogs love this place and so do we. We are frequent travelers and we have always felt guilty leaving our two labs while we travel. About a year ago we booked a last minute trip and our usual kennel was full. Our traveling companions also have a dog and told us how happy they have been with Camp Bow Wow so we decided to give it try. We were pleasintly suprised and are now frequent and faithful clients of the Trumbull Drive location. The camp staff is always happy to see us and the boys arrive. It is apparent that they are true dog lovers and we are confident that thay handle our "kids" with love and care when we are away. Our two Labs are also very impressed because now, as soon as they see the suit cases come out, tails start wagging and when we arrive at camp they burst through the front door with that great Lab enthusiasm . It was also nice to be able to check in on them with the cameras every now and then and see them having a good time. Thanks Camp Bow Wow for providing the unique and great service that you do. Keep up the good work!
pleased customer. We have a bichon who has been attending the green tree location for the past 6 years when we go on vacations and weekend trips. He has a blast each and every time and gets lots of exercise. Any time there was an issue or trouble with our dog, the staff at camp bow wow called us immediately to inform us of the situation. We are very pleased with how the camp counselors and management treat both us and our bichon on each and every occasion! We highly recommend taking your pup or pups to visit this wonderful doggie day care and overnight camp!
HORRIBLE PLACE-DONT LEAVE DOG HERE. Had a horrible expereince at this Camp Bow Wow, my dog was neglected and returned sick with fleas, the owner was defensive and rude and they cost me $$$ in vet bills.
I am really shocked at this review. I am a frequent traveler and have used this location multiple times over the past year. Never a problem. I have spoken with both owners on multiple occasions and they are caring professionals. I can't imagine them being rude to anyone. BTW was your dog on flea preventative?
I have boarded my dogs there over Thanksgiving and when they got home Friday night my lab started throwing up - I called the kennel the next day and the receptionist stated they knew that something was going around the kennel and that they had changed their cleaning procedures,. This continued on with my lab the next day and I took her to the vet and she had an intestinal infection. I was to go out of town that weekend and had made a reservation but when I called Camp Bow Wow again they said that the dogs in their kennel were still getting sick and they thought maybe it was the food but even dogs who brought in their own food were getting sick - Cost of vet bill and carpet cleaning $275 - I cancelled my trip out of town. I thought perhaps this was an isolated incident BUT IT WAS NOT!!!!!!
I took my dogs there on April 15th for 1 overnight visit. 3 days later my Lab was coughing and gag and throwing up white mucus. I took her to the emergency vet and as soon as I walked in the door they said what Kennel have you been at because your dog has kennel cough and they quarantined us. They confirmed she had contracted Kennel cough and that vet bill was $350 .
I called and left a message to alert Camp Bow Wow of my dogs conditional and that she had contracted Kennel Cough as it is very contagious and asked to get a return phone call. Never have gotten a call and its 2 days later!~ My two experience with Camp Bow Wow Southwest on Trumbull have cost me over $625 and that doesn't even include the fee I was charged to board the dogs !!
STAY AWAY!. Camp Bow Wow seemed great. Before my boyfriend & I dropped off our golden retriever and miniature pinscher for a weeks trip to Mexico. We returned home to find out that our dogs were sent home with one of our emergency contacts five days early. Our retriever supposedly came down with a cough which the vet stated may or may not be kennel cough and dissapeared after leaving the kennel. Because they were boarded together they were both removed from camp in case the cough had spread. Both dogs were vaccinated before boarding. Instead of calling the goldens vet or even the camps vet for a consult they first left us a simple voicemail which wouldn't be heard until we arived back in the states. This stated "there was no problem and the golden had a slight cough". Then they called our emergency contact to pick up the dogs. When our emergency contact arrived to pick up the dogs they would not give her a loaner colar and leash for the dogs. She had to buy new ones at the pet store just to get them home. This made no sense to us when the camp stated at drop off that we didn't need to leave the leashes at the camp. They obviously weren't prepared for the dogs to go home early. When we arrived home we immediately called the camp to discuss the situation. First, we were told that the camp didn't know what vet to call. This information is not only required in the camps paper work but could also be found on our golden's name plate on his collar. We asked in case an emergency contact can't be reached what happens to the dogs? They stated "We don't know". When asked if a dog needs to be quarentined or a virus has spread through out the kennel what procedures are followed we were told "Were not exactly sure." They also, stated that they followed the proper procedure for possible kennel cough. Not according to other kennels and veterinarians I later contacted. Making things worse the manager we spoke to on the phone did not take our concerns seriously. She laughed at how upset we were that our dogs (family members) were not properly handled. She stopped laughing when we told her our dogs would never return the camp and would make others aware of these problems. To summarize, we completed and signed forms at camp stating that if a health problem occurred our vet would be contacted, our credit card information would be used and the situation would be handled in a proper manner. This did not happen and everyone including the dogs had a very rough week. Never again will we trust, use or indorse this kennel.
This person was not a client here, they were at the Pgh North camp. We are aware of this client situation. We take canine cough very seriously. Any dog showing symptoms is sent home with their emergency contact immediately for the safety of all the other dogs at Camp. Only if an emerg. contact is not available would we have the dogs stay at a vet kennel due to the large costs this would incur on the client. This client was already given a refund even for the nights the dogs were at Camp. Thanks.
Reconsider Using this Camp Bow Wow. I do not recommend using Camp Bow Wow Pittsburgh Southwest. Boarded my dog at this location and he came back with marks all over him as though he was not even supervised and developed kennel cough.
We have a 25:1 min staff ratio and webcams to prove it. With any group play there may be occasions when dogs get marks just as kids get scrapes in daycare.
Canine cough is a disease similar to a cold. We have the strictest vaccine policies in Pgh but it only protect against some strains. Any dog showing signs is immediately removed from camp.
We are the only place that has staff ratios and we are the only daycare with tours and webcams at all times. Please come if for a tour and check us out.
People to trust with your loved ones. A highly recomended place for your dogs. They treat customers and the dogs with kindness and respect.
Camp Bow Wow keeps my dog's tail waggin!. Our dog Abby loves going to Camp every week so much that if we never picked her back up, she probably would not even know the difference. She is very comfortable there and has made lots of doggie friends. The staff does a wonderful job with both the dogs and the owners. They learn very quickly whose owner you are :) This place is a great way from my dog to get her energy out while we are at work, as well it keeps her well socialized with other dogs. We cannot say enough good things about this Camp Bow Wow.
Loves Camp Bow Wow. My Dog loves Camp Bow Wow. He is excited to go everytimes, and the staff there treats him as if he was their own dog. Highly Recomended
