nice food, mean service. the place has some great food; great selection and atmosphere. however, there are two points of contention- the smug lady who runs the shop can be a real bitch; not only showing a i'm-better-than-you attitude and aughing behind the backs of her customers, but also bossing her kid sister around. so that isn't very pleasant. i go back for the food, and that's it.

My favorite place to eat in Pittsburgh!!!. The food here is amazing. Anything from the basil fried rice with chicken to the lotus salad. The lotus salad has amazingly fresh ingredients and an awesome combination of flavors.

The waitstaff are wonderfully nice. It is very rare that your water glass is empty as someone will come to refill it!

All in all, best food in pittsburgh at amazing prices with kind helpful staff at a great location. Can't beat it.

Great Thai, great flavor, great spice. OK, I had never heard of this place. My sister-in-law told my wife about it and we went there. It would be very easy to miss or dismiss when looking at it from the outside. However, that would be a big mistake.

One of the reasons I love Thai food is the beautiful layering of flavors. If you don't understand, you would once you eat here. My wife ordered spring rolls to start, and she said they were absolutely great - light, crispy and full of flavor. She also enjoyed the cashew chicken she ordered. My daughter, not real thrilled with the menu (what do kids know sometimes) ordered General Tso's chicken. It was better than any I've had but one (and that place is not near Pittsburgh) sweet, tangy and just a bit of kick. She also devoured the fried rice she ordered, and she usually barely touches fried rice.

I went with the Tom Kar (sp?) which was a coconut soup with mushrooms. Talk about flavor - tasting the coconut, mushrooms, a citrus flavor as well as a little spice. I destroyed the soup in no time and was tempted to order more. Couldn't decide between Emerald Noodles and Nam Pak - the waiter (and I think the owner as well) suggested I go with Nam Pak (I might be spelling it wrong) and had chicken for the meat. Well, he was right. I love spicy so I said make it a 10. It was spot on. Anyone can make a dish spicy, but to make a dish spicy, without losing any of the other flavors is a talent. The sweetness rolled over my tounge, then the peanut and other flavors filled in, and finally the heat came on. I absolutely loved it. And the fried zucchini that came with it was spectacular - best tempura style vegetables I've had in years. I'm glad I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

If you are looking for good thai, or just good food period, make sure to go here.

The service was somewhat slow, but I'm not surprised as there were a fair amount of people there and one person trying to handle everything out front. It was definitely worth the trip.

Fantastic Thai food!. This is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh! The food is the best you'll get anywhere in the city--always fresh, flavorful, and prepared the way *you* want. (I don't know where the comment about being "too spicy" comes from--it's Thai food--c'mon! If you can't handle it, go to Applebees and eat cardboard. Besides, they have plenty of mild dishes at Thai Gourmet). The menu has many options--all very reasonably priced. Most dishes are in the $8-12 range, and I always go home with enough leftovers for at least one more full meal. The staff members are friendly, and service is very fast! The place is fairly small, and tends to get crowded on Fridays-Mondays; go mid-week and you can almost have the place to yourself. Try it, you'll like it!

Best Thai in Pittsburgh!. This is a simple, family run restaurant that serves GREAT food at very reasonable prices. The authentic food and friendly staff remind us of our vacation in Thailand. We love this place. Also, you can specify the spice level from 1 to 10 (most white-folk should stay below 6).

Large quantity of delicious, inexpensive Thai food. First, I really don't know what the other poster is talking about. I have never had an issue with the food being "too spicy" and have ordered several curry dishes from Thai Gormet in the past. In my opinion, the food is great. The spices aren't too overwhelming, but the food is very flavorful. The prices are really reasonable for the vast amount of food that you get. The last time I ordered take-out from there, my food lasted for three meals! Also, the take-out order took only 10 minutes, which is pretty great. I highly recommend their pineapple curry and sweet and sour dishes. The only downside is the inside of the place - it reminds me of a cheesy diner. This definitely wasn't enough to turn me off to the place, though.

Too spicy, and no free delivery!. They have the best summer rolls around, but I cannot recommend this restaurant because their food is extremely spicy, to the point of dangerous. Even when you specify that it not be spicy on a level system, it is still too hot. Another reason I cannot recommend it is that they advertise free delivery, and they do not deliver 9 out of 10 times that you call. It is false advertising. When asked what days the do deliver, they say only when they are not busy! What a joke. But, if you want a great summer roll, and you want your food so hot and spicy that you might need a tongue transplant, by all means stop in, but don't call for delivery. You'll be out of luck

Here's an update. It's four months later and I thought for the heck of it I'd try to order for delivery. Guess what? They still don't deliver!!!!! WHAT A JOKE! They're still guilty of false advertising.
