Tips for Mccormick & Schmick's Seafood Pittsburgh South Side

Having trouble finding something to complain about.. Waiters polite and helpful. Nice seafood choices and preparation. (Can get pasta,, prime rib & steak that are OK for Seafood place). I always get prompt seating where I want to sit. They are tolerant and helpful toward little kids. Sydney Street mashed potatoes great. Fish.. anyway you want it done. Great Sourdough Bread. Pan Fried Oysters and other extras are prepared well and could serve as a delicious small meal. Desserts are great and ave. priced.

Salmon dishes all good. Soups as well.

I prefer Sydney over downtown. Maybe it is the chef.

Food was Average and way overpriced and a-la-cart pricing while Wine cost was the highest I've ever seen. McCormick and Schmick's has a nice atmosphere and good location. However, cost of the food was very high for the meager portions, the ala-carte menu and also the only average quality of the food. Even more disturbing was cost of wine they charge their customers. I guess they think location allows them to place extreme upcharges to customers. Examples include they were only out of their lowest price wine, a $33 bottle. Next two wines in the price category were $43 and $45. The $43 wine was Antinori, 2004 Sangiovese which can be purchase for $10.99 for a single bottle. Higher volume purchases can be made for $9.50 each, making the upcharge by McCormick and Schmick of almost 5x their cost. The next bottle, Rivola Sarden del Duero, 2003, can be purchased for $12 a single bottle, $11 for volume making the McC&S upcharge of 4.4x their cost. What happened to Wine Spectator review excellent choice wines, available for 10 to $20 a bottle, upcharged the normal 2x actual cost rather than 4 to 6x? I don't recommend McCormick and Schmick for these reasons.
