No walk-ins! Are you kidding me?. Two weeks ago, late in the afternoon, my friend and I stopped in for a Pedicure. I needed them done for two events I had to attend over the weekend. Though the atmosphere was pleasing when I arrived, it suddenly turned "SOUR". As the staff sat around on their butts they told me "No appointment , oh well no service". Frustrated as I was my friend informed me that Macy's had a salon; maybe I should try there. So off we went, although they were about to close up, the manicurist offered to stay and do my nails. I would like to say "Thank You" to Marc for staying a little later than usual. My nails looked great and my pedicure couldn't have been better.
A lousy spa experience.. What a bad experience! It was extremely expensive, and I don't mind paying for quality, but there wasn't any. I had a package of services, and they were all substandard. I had a facial, and they used an old towel with rips in it! And I was paying a fortune for this "facial". Believe the bad reviews here and go ANYWHERE but this so called "spa". They hardly had any business when I was there, so I wouldn't be surprised if About U isn't around for long anyway.
Excellent spa day!. The staff and services were wonderful. I had a half day spa package and wanted to stay all day! The atmosphere was really nice unlike other salon/spa combos.
an expensive joke. They're expensive and don't deliver. I made an appt for services, arrived early and waited 30 minutes while they made calls for an employee to come into work. It's like no one really works there but they take appts anyway. Won't go back and won't recommend
outstanding!. First of all, I would like to tell miss fox below, that the italian woman at "About U!" salon is amazing as well as her staff. I received a manicure there and I did not have an appointment. They were able to take me as a walk in, which I was very pleased about. I also had acrylic nails and I came to find that they did not offer fill-ins. However, the nice girl doing my nails, shaped them beautifully and they looked very natural. This particular salon has a peaceful environment and the lovely italian lady takes care of all of her customers. There are refreshments and everything! I highly recommend this salon to anyone in the metro area of Pittsburgh.
I wouldn't go there again!. I was getting married and was using this salon for my wedding day. What a mistake. The owner, some italian woman that looked like a bad Cher impersonator, assured me that I would have two hairdressers's and a makeup artist for myself and my bridal party. Well, I guess she couldn't get any of her staff to do it except one, so she sent one hairdresser to do all of my bridesmaids! The hairdresser was Diana, and she was great, but the owner was very unprofessional and downright rude. My father called to complain and the owner gave him the runaround and a bunch of excuses. This poor excuse of a salon owner almost ruined my wedding day. I have heard Diana is no longer with this salon, and is now at Elizabeth Arden at Macy's, which is a good thing for her. I wouldn't use this salon to trim my dog's toenails. Disgusting.
A wonderful spa. I used to live in Pittsburgh and had the pleasure of going to About U! Salon and Spa twice. I really enjoyed it. The staff is very nice and professional. I had a manicure, pedicure, facial and massage. There is a guy there who did my massage (sorry I can't remember his name but "I LOVED IT!!!") The next time I'm in pittsburgh I will makes sure I go back.
