Editorial Review for Lautrec – by Jolie Kenney

The Scene
A jet-set clientele, rich food, works of art--including six of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's famous lithographed posters--combine for an ambiance that demands that one sit up straight and minds one's manners as each of the chef's artistic presentations arrives on Lautrec-themed china. The sky-high prices on the menu and throughout the 21-page international wine list will make for a memorable evening (and more than a dent in your bank account).

The Food
Specialty appetizers such as the crab cakes and the roasted prawn are crowd-pleasers but can anything compare to the ultra-expensive but oh-so-worth-it one-ounce of Malossol Beluga Caspian Sea Caviar? (The answer is no.) In a menu that features some qualitative inconsistencies in its lamb and beef entrees, the seafood offerings are consistently sumptuous: The lobster ravioli is as rich as Midas; the wild king salmon with sea scallop is almost too pretty to eat. Eat it anyway.

Chef's Tasting Menu: Magnificent!!! Five courses of sheer culinary delight. The service was impeccable and the wine list extensive. All surronded in the beauty of Nemacolin Woodlands. I loved it!!
