Absolutely Nothing Wrong.
I am very surprised by the negative feedback Be at Home has received. There aren't any businesses that are perfect, so parents shouldn't expect a daycare facility to be 100% flawless. I probably know more about Be at Home than most of the reviews because I used to work there. So my debate does have backing.
First of all, the directors--all three of them--are great people. They each have their own personalities that make the work day enjoyable They also present these characteristics to the children in the facility. They are very caring to each child in the center.
They are professional, I don't know how some people would think that they aren't. They also are qualified to run a business and do so while raising three kids of their own.
I worked there for 3 and a half years and not once experienced any disturbing events. Sure, we had a broken arm in the playground from a fall and minor boo-boos happen, THEY'RE KIDS! But nothing that would classify under disturbing. That's giving the wrong impression and falsely labeling the center, especially when it's only been "heard of."
It is a safe place to be, with caring individuals, and a fun environment. And answering the phone every time a person calls really isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. Really.
We think they are GREAT. We just had to write a comment after seeing some of the negative comments on Be At Home. We have had our daughter at Be At Home for 3 years and it has been a wonderful experience!! The owners care about the children and go out of their way to make sure that every child is well taken care of. It is a family owned business and they take pride in what they do. If someone answering the phone at all times is your major concern than maybe this place is not the best one for you and your family, but if having your child well taken care of is the most important goal, than this is the place for you. When my daughter and I walk in, just about every one of the staff greet my daughter by name with a smile and most often a hug. She looks forward to going, never makes a fuss, and that is all that matters to me.
ok. My son attended this daycare for the first year and a half of his life. The daycare itself is clean and the teachers seemed qualified. However, the administration was hard to work with and was v. unprofessional in my opinion. We were happy to move my son to a different daycare where the focus was more on structure and learning. It was easy leaving knowing that we would not be interacting with the administrators any longer. I'm happy to say that my son is happy, healthy and learning at a near by facility. Would not recommend.
The best. My children have been at Be at Home since my youngest (now a second-grader) was 11 months old. My other two kids were there since infancy. I cannot imagine a better daycare for my kids. We had my oldest in another center before Be at Home and it is like night and day. The directors and caregivers at Be at Home are extremely conscientious, caring and qualified. There is very low turnover of caregivers and they are both educated in early childhood specialties as well as experienced. The facility was built specifically to be a day care and is fantastic (heated floors; tiny potties; outlets out of arm's reach; large trex-deck; big open yard to play in, etc.). The reason the directors might not get back to you right away is because they are very hands-on in the running of the daycare and are often in the rooms teaching and taking care of the kids. They always will return calls or take care of important issues. Most importantly, my children have been so happy at Be at Home - they have made great friends, had fun, learned a lot, and were extremely well-prepared for Kindergarten. They also have rarely gotten sick whereas my oldest child was sick every 2-3 weeks at her previous daycare. Also, the things I witnessed happen to my child and other children at the previous daycare were far worse than anything I have seen or heard of happen during my 6+ years at Be at Home. I would highly recommend this daycare to anyone in the North Hills.
Not recommended. The building and grounds are quite nice, but owners are very unprofessional. If you are looking for a positive, collaborative experience with your childcare provider this is not the place. It is very difficult to get a live person on the phone and when you leave a message if you get a call-back at all, it's usually 4-5 hours later.
I have heard some disturbing stories from a couple of friends about things that have happened to their children at this place. Be careful.
