Tips for Lapomponner Sport

Good Massage, Horrible Manicure. After being a happy and faithful client of the original La Pomponnee salon, I moved to Eighty Four in Washington County. I decided to try the La Pomponnee Sport in the new location, because it is very close to my house. I first scheduled a massage. The massage was acceptable but nothing special. As few months later, I decided to try a manicure. I scheduled a french manicure in January 08 prior to a trip to NYC for my birthday. First I was shocked to see how much the place had changed since my first visit. Overall it seemed dirty and everyone seemed much more intent on gossiping than assisting clients. There were many clients that were waiting.

My manicurist came to the front and took me back to her station. She was not happy when the front informed her that I had requested french polish. The station was dirty and unkempt. There was polish painted (or spilled) and trash everywhere. She was very young, and I felt like I was wasting her time. She roughly scraped back my cuticles and then cut them so short, that they separated from my nails and burned very badly when I did the salt scrub. They have yet to grow out completely. In addition, she had to keep asking other employees where things were, but she told me she had been there over a year. I have realtively short, healthly nails, so I asked her for thin white tips (I also had an engineering conference that week). After she told me that she hates doing french, she painted half of my nails white and then "cleaned them up" to have one half to one third of my nails white. I mentioned my request again and she took a little more off but also took off the undercoat of pink. I gave up at this point. The mani took over and hour and a half, and my nails looked trashy and horrible. The next morning they were full of bubbles and were already peeling off.

Needless to say I will not be heading back to La Pomponnee Sport for a manicure. It is very sad this one is so bad compared to the original.

Intimate and personal. La Pomponnee "Sport" is a sweet, small spa with all the services comparible to the large spa, without the crowd. Free parking, childcare and a calm relaxing atomsphere make this place a hidden gem in McMurray.
