Great Place. We have been going to Sarafino's since it opened. The food is excellent. However, the restaurant is very small and you need to either decide to eat early or late. Making reservations is a joke -- they will say they take them, but they don't keep the table for you. My best recommendation -- go in the summer and eat outside!
Great food, but be prepared to wait!. We really liked this restaurant, but it is very small. We sat outside on a 60 degree night to avoid having our 3 year old having to wait. Our waitress was nice and our appetizers and drinks came quickly. We had the caesar salad and fried ravioli. Very good! The restaurant then became busier with big parties waiting to be seated, so our waitress seemed to forget that she had a table outside. It took an hour from the time we ordered until we got our pizza. The pizza was delicious and we liked the atmosphere and the italian music being filtered through the speakers. The byob is definitely a nice touch. I would go back, but I would want to sit inside if in October (the night went down to 50 degrees by the time we were done) and I would want a different server. We felt that we should have been made more of a priority, considering we were with a small child and sitting outside. It's worthy of a second chance though.
What a great place. Best kept secret in the burgh. The food and service is very very good, great atmosphere, not expensive. Last time I was there asked the chef if he could prepare me something that was not on the menu and they were very accomidating. Please dont tell everyone how good this place is so I can get a seat.
What a disaster.... We had been wondering about the buzz surrounding Sarafino's so we decided to check it out. We were seated immediately in the small space and the server got our drink orders quickly enough. She was back over for dinner orders quickly so we were off to a good start. That's where our luck ended. We sat for an hour waiting for our bruschetta appetizer, our bread a distant memory. We had not seen the server since we placed our orders with her and our drinks were completely gone. The owner stood in the middle of the restaurant shouting orders to the staff not really concerned that customers were cringing at every word. We waited. We finally got a split second to ask for drink refills and she whisked our glasses away to refill the ice, but when they were returned, there was no ice at all. We waited. We watched other tables get their appetizers and entrees...and then as a table that was seated a good 40 minutes after us got their brushetta, we decided we'd had enough. We told the server we were leaving and explained why and she replied "okay". The owner had a similar air of disconcern at our poor experience. When we offered to pay for our iced teas, we were told to "just leave".
