What People Are Saying About Tiki Lounge

In Short – With a giant tribal mask at its entrance, the Tiki Lounge immediately stands out among East Carson Street's row of shot-and-a-beer joints. The decor is pure Trader Vic kitsch, complete with bamboo-hut booths, a thatched-roof bar, and a collection of wooden headhunter masks lining the walls. A DJ spins on weekend nights for a minimal cover--the same nights when the smoke-free lounge is open downstairs. Find spicy wings, satay kabobs and other finger foods.
Surprisngly rude, neat decor

I've gone here twice. The first time was with a group of girl friends and we had a fine time. Sat in a booth, some lame-ish dudes tried to pick us up and it was all in good fun. I didn't go there for a long while because my boyfriend had a bad experience there. I finally got him to give it another chance since we both felt like having a mojito and they had a sign hanging outside touting them for several months. So before we even enter the door, my boyfriend asks an employee if we're allowed to smoke inside, and the employee very smartly responded "it's a bar." Well, yeah it's a bar, but the double-wide grill doesn't have smoking, and from what I remember the lava lounge had no smoking on Saturdays at some point. Reasonable question!
Despite this chilly welcome, we went in and stood around for a couple minutes waiting for service. I've got to give the barback some credit here, 'cause he's the only one who was even slightly nice. The bartender came around and asked for our orders...I asked for a mojito and was told they had no mint. OKAY so then I asked for the rum drink they had a big pre-fabricated sign for on the street. She looked at me like I was retarded and said WELL DRINKS AFTER NINE. What? I can only get well drinks? Can you not make a rumpunch with well liquor? We had enough of it after that. Sorry for asking a freaking question. Went to mantini's and had a KILLER mojito.
