Excellent neighborhood bar, great music venue, always a safe bet.. The Thunderbird is all that I could have asked for from a bar just around the corner from my house. The drink prices are very reasonable, the bar staff is very friendly and never lacking in service, they offer food which is above par for barfood, and they feature live music more often then they don't.

The bar is split into three sections, with the front area proiding the most standard 'bar' experience. There is limited table seating here, and the focus is definitely on locals having some Yuenglings and maybe some barbecue. There are two good-size televisions.

Up a half-flight of stairs (and past the pool table) is the stage area. The stage is not large, but it will accomodate a full band. The sound system is excellent. They tend to focus on blues, jazz and americana music, but other musical styles appear to be welcome. Keep your eyes open, some great national acts will pass through here at times. The standard here is pretty high so you will likely enjoy whatever is playing on almost any night you pass through.

Up another half-flight of stairs and there is a second bar area, with a smaller bar but more ample seating. This area is more comfortable, dimly lit and overlooks the stage area.

All in all I can't complain about The Thunderbird. I do think that the old bar menu was much better than the current one, but the barbecue offerings now available are very tasty and when I go to the bird I am usually not going to eat anyhow.
