Thank You!. I'm so excited!!!! This new year I became engaged! My boyfriend of 5 years FINALLY popped the question! He wandered into South Hills Jewelers, a lost puppy to the wonderful world of jewelry. After having shopped around at some of the chain locations, the staff took the time to educate and LISTEN to his wants and needs. This was a relief to him after having numerous selections shoved down his throat. I got the ring I have dreamed of as they made it affordable with the interest free financing. Thank you from both of us for making this a painless and enjoyable transaction. We look forward to frequent returns as the special occasions pop up!

Where do they get the prices?.
Where are they getting the current prices of gold? My husban has been keeping an eye on the prices of gold at the recomendation on another jewler. Just to get a second opionon on what he could get for a few pieces of gold, he stopped in here.
He was quoted $500 for the pieces. Getting back to my original question....where did this come from? The other jewler quoted him $1100. To be fair...he asked them both the same questions and it was the same exact wt etc. The staff were not very pleasant either.
Just to be certain the first jewler wasn't a scam (and they weren't...they have been in business for at least 30 years) we went to two others and we were very close to the 1100.

Friendly competent service, superior craftsman. Recently after the passing of my mother I had the experience of dealing with south hills jewelers. My mom had left us quite a bit of jewelry that we were unsure of.. We wanted to distribute it fairly amongst all of us and were looking to authenticate its value. I have to say that from Faye the sales associate to Margie the appraiser to Kief the amazing craftsman who set my mom's diamond into a custom designed engagement ring for my daughter who is getting married this fall,...Everyone was wonderful, I felt confident in all my decisions with the help of their knowledgeable staff and I would highly recommend everyone to go there for all their jewelry needs.... Its about time we had a local jeweler that we could depend on!

Better off Downtown.
I used to take all of my jewelery there and was happy with their service, but the last couple of times that I have been in there, I was really disappointed. They say they are welcoming, but I have to disagree. I'm sure that they are welcoming, but as I've noticed when I've been in there, it's to the people they already know. I guess I know that because I used to be one of those people that they would recognize and "knew."
If not giving customers the time of day because it might appear that they are "just looking" or don't look like they can afford to buy anything, then I would definitely go somewhere else!
