Editorial Review for Olive or Twist – by Ernessa Carter
The Scene
Reasonably priced drinks and eats have Pittsburgh's business community talking about this diamond-in-the-downtown rough: They enjoy lunch and come back for seconds at happy hour. The only thing more sparse than the menu is the decor--but in a good, cozy way. The dining room is refined; the bar is hip. But this place is interested in more than being trendy.
The Food
The simple menu might be described as New American with an international twist. Salads, steak and sandwiches make up the bulk of the offerings. The filet mignon sandwich with Gorgonzola shares menu space with appetizers like fried calamari in Thai sauce. Craving dessert? There's a short menu of sweets, but also more than 30 types of yummy martinis with cutesy names like Georgia Peach, Bikini and Rajun Cajun martini.

me and my friends used to go out all the time. and we were getting sick of the same old bars and some of the other neighborhoods so we wnet out downtown. We LOVE this place. They have the coolest upstairs lounge in the city and the hottest bartenders and cocKtail waitresses. (lol) We went to a wrap party there it was the bomb. It's a chill relaxing atmosphere where you dont' get macked on too bad. But always fun too with DJs on some nights. Now we always either start out here or end the night here regardless on the weekends. Highly recommend the Pom martinis and mojitos.
Pros: greatest atmosphere and most cool crowd
Cons: no after hours

I just moved to pittsburgh recently and stumbled upon this wonderful spot in the downtown area. Everytime we go there, it is always happening but not too crazy. They have a nice sophisticated mixed crowd and it's a great place to chill on the weekends...relaxed comfortable atmosphere, great music. Drinks are in the mid to high range but well worth the price with the stiff pours and quality liquor. Highly recommend for a good party !
Pros: fantastic food, superior drinks, friendly effecient service
Cons: lunchtime parking, no kids menu
