Editorial Review for Page's Dairy Mart – by Natalie Rieland
The Scene
Nightly, you'll find a line ten-patrons deep, drooling over the dozens of treat options in anticipation of a Pages' frozen delights. The counter-service, neon-lit ice-cream shop has been packing customers in, or rather, out on the pavement, since 1951. With not even a picnic table to sit at, ice-cream lovers half lean, half sit on car-hoods, their wide-eyes lit by those neon lights that seem reserved for carnivals and theme parks long forgotten.
The Food
Maplenut, amaretto, espresso, cheesecake, strawberry, blackberry, coconut...and that's just the frozen yogurt flavors with 17 others to choose from. Then there is every sundae topping you can imagine. Peaches, strawberries, bananas, raspberries, you name it. Along with the cherished vanilla, chocolate, or swirl soft-serve in a cake cone, Page's offers specialty creations like the Dirt Sundae, the Oreo Milkshake, and your garden-variety Hawaiian Shave. Growing up, the classic dip cone was the pick and this might be the only place that deviates from the traditional cherry, chocolate or butterscotch options by mixing it up with black raspberry dip.

They've been great since I was little(a very long time ago). They used to give out free ice cream to the little league teams after the games. Mr. Page was/ is ? a outstanding man, any interaction with him from the time I was small to a teenager, to bringing my son there as a adult. Great family business.

Classic. This place has been around for over fifty years and it's a staple in the Pittsburgh area. I'm usually not too crazy about icecream but when I'm in Pittsburgh during the summer I visit every chance I get. Ignore any bad reviews you see, the people who leave them don't know good icecream when they taste it. The line can stretch all the way to the curb during their busiest times. It's worth the wait. Don't be discouraged by a long line. Service is provided through drive-through style windows. There are two choices once you're served: stand around the building or sit in your vehicle and eat. They have no seats but that ties into the entire experience. This is a family business and it's been that way since 1951. They know how to make an icecream just about any way you like. Probably the only icecream shop that offers a three different dip flavors. If you visit the Steel City, stop by the Steel City's favorite icecream shop. Enough said.
