American food for Texas-sized stomachs..
The Scene
A large flowing bar/restaurant with a number of rooms. There is a large bar, with both bar seating and tables, plus a couple of dining areas with one being very child-friendly. Service is attentive, but could use a little training in customer relations at busy times.
The Food
Big plates of all-American food are served here so come hungry. The chicken chili is rich and spicy and a basket of frazzled fried onions for the table makes a nice appetizer. There are a range of salads, served in big bowls, from strip steak and jumbo lump crab to chicken and grilled salmon. Burgers are big (like everything here), grilled to order and served with shoestring potatoes. The pub favorites are the draw, though. Meatloaf, pot roast and an exceptional chicken with dumplings are perennial favorites in winter months with specials changing for the spring and summer. Other specialty items include jumbo crab cakes and cedar-grilled salmon, as well as four different steak items, including an outstanding London broil. For dessert, a pumpkin cheesecake is offered, as well as an interesting bread pudding.
