Editorial Review for Castellano's – by Christian Pelusi and David C. Madden
The Scene
It's a three-floor homage to Pittsburgh's two favorite pastimes: sports and drinking. First floor: deli counter and several downtown flood photographs. Second floor: full bar and tall table-and-stool seating with waitstaff, and walls covered with local sports memorabilia. The third floor has a draught bar and more space to stand and drink. Each floor upstairs has large windows with views of PNC Park.
The Draw
Standard bar fare is supplemented by a full deli menu, with both pre-made and make-your-own sandwiches. If you like chicken salad, don't leave without trying Castellano's version; it's among the best in town. Skip the homemade meat loaf sandwich--it's too dense and mushy. Salads are pricey but large. The herb mayo makes the chicken club a nice pick, and the Italian hoagie's meats are tasty and not soggy.

There are many bars in Pgh, many serving the standard bar food (wings, cheese fries, burgers, etc). Castellano's definitely takes it a step above. They use fresh ingredients and make things from scratch. The menu has a few vegetarian items and things out of the ordinary which is great.
