The Scene – Where others may festoon the walls with harpoons, fishing nets and lobster traps, the photos, paintings, and news clippings hanging in this room serve in tribute to the men and women, both in Pittsburgh and at sea, that have devoted their lives to providing fish for the masses. While some may think that the seating, located on the second floor is sparse, it's quite easy to imagine you're in the bowels of a large ship with the white metal walls and mechanical hum of freezers, a decidedly marine feel permiates. – – The Food – A cafeteria-style line…
Worst Sushi. Charges too much on the debit/credit card!
by mumai
Beware!!!!I had sushi combo platter on a Wed lunch..., paid $10++. Sushi is not fresh and does not have any taste at all. I checked my bank account only to see they charged $14 which is weird because I did not leave any tip...I can not contest it since I lost the receipt!
AMAZING SUSHI!
by jordica13
Andy has the best sushi in Pittsburgh! He makes the most unique rolls I have ever had and is always kind and friendly. My favorite thing to do is allow him to whip up something of his choice; it is ALWAYS delicious! I highly recommend the soft-shell crab rolls or if you are going solely for the raw seafood, at least try his special sauce that he uses on the soft shell crab rolls. His stuff is truly delicious and is better than any high-class restaurant around.
- Pros: GREAT price for the quantity, amazing quality fish, unique combinations
- Cons: fish market scent and no sit-down eating
Fantastic Fish
by mtw156
Wholey's remains the best spot in Pittsburgh for fresh fish and fish sandwiches. Sushi is fantastic too. I try and make it down at least once a week to get fresh fish of unparalled quality.

The Raw Deal:
Sushi's at Andy's Sushi Bar downstairs. While all selections are excellent, his preparation of unagi, eel, is beyond compare (at least in Pittsburgh).
For the Cooks:
Wholey's also frequently offers recipe-prepared samples of its wares throughout, including apple cider when in season.
Still the Place:
You can still pickup shrimp for a holiday or a playoff party, lobster for a special occasion, or salmon steaks among many selections.
