The Best Service Ever.
In April 2008, I made reservation for a 8 which included 3 children. The waitress made special drinks for the kids and even brought out a pitcher for them. The food was very fresh and nice size portions. The waitress was very attentive. After dinner, the kids ran around on the 12-acre lot. A relative of the owner greeted us outside and even took the children up to the stables to pet and give the horses snacks. After the children received lolli-pops. I can't say I have ever had an experience like this.
My party as mentioned included children, who never got bored. The seniors in the party loved the atmosphere and the spacious environment (opposed to busy chain restaurants). The out-of-towners were jealous that they didn't have anything like this in their state. The rest of us, just proud that we chose the right place for a unexpected night.
Can't say enough about the Boston Waterfront in Boston, PA
Avoid for large parties. Our large group was very disappointed in the service we experienced at the Boston Waterfront Restaurant. We made reservations 2 weeks in advance for a party of 30 and the restaurant staff assured us they could accomodate such a large party. Upon arriving, our servers didn't take our drink orders for 45 minutes. We only had 2 servers for our party. Our appetizer orders were taken 1/2 hour later. The appetizers were wonderful, although they were advertised by our server as 1/2 price when this really wasn't the case because it was a Saturday. We were charged full price. An hour after our appetizer orders, the servers finally took our dinner orders. We didn't get our dinner for another hour. Mind you, we have been sitting at this restaurant for 3 hours by now, without refills on drinks. Two of our guests had to leave without food because it hadn't been served yet. We made several complaints to talk to management. The response from one server was, "I don't deal with management." The response from the other server was, "The manager is helping the cook." We made reservations 2 weeks in advance and they only had one cook? This was a Saturday night. When our food finally came out, our guest of honor and her family was served next to last. The restaurant ran out of baked potatoes, so they assumed everyone would want french fries instead. The steaks were very rare. They were sent back a few times to be cooked longer and the baked potatoes that few people did get were dry and cold. The servers waited another 45 minutes before giving us our bills when people were half-way out the door. The restaurant tried to solve our problem by giving us our guest of honor's meal for free and a round of free drinks for everyone. By the time the drink orders were made and drinks came out, some people had already left. We do not feel that this was enough of a solution to all of the problems we encountered that night. We will not be recommending this restaurant in the future for a large party.
Hidden in the woods, overlooking the Yough River, lies a comfortably large facility..
The Scene
The dining room is large, with widely spaced tables and sitting areas by a large fireplace near the entrance. The expansive deck further expands the space, offering drinks and meals outside in clement weather, and the property sits on the Yough biking trail as a wonderful stopping place for lunch or a drink. There is a dance floor as well, with live bands performing on weekends.
The Food
Traditional American food is served here and in large portions. Main courses run the full gamut of char-grilled steaks, seafood, veal, chicken, and pasta specialties. One of the standout items is the baby back ribs, extremely meaty with a sweet, tomato-based sauce, available in full or half-rack portions. The grilled swordfish steak sandwich is an excellent, lower-calorie alternative.
