Back and Better than ever.
The best Hot Dogs, Sausage, and the number one fries anywhere has returned. It is now 2 doors down from Nicholas Coffee in Market Square. The food is like greeting a long lost friend or relative that you remembered so well.
Anyone who ever goes to lunch in town has to try this place. I have brought four people who werent in town awhen Yovi's was opened. They are now regular customers, two of them almost as regular as myself.
Congrats, Yovi great to see you again my friend, and many years of great food.
For Chicagoans who yearn for their hometown tastes, there is an oasis in the land of fries and cole slaw-stuffed sandwiches..
The Scene
The food area consists of a counter and about a half dozen tables. Step up and order and the meal is ready in seconds, perfect for the quick lunch stop. The table area is a shrine to Chicago sports with Da Bears, Ditka, and Blackhawks well represented.
The Food
Importing the condiments from the city of big shoulders, he takes a steamed poppy seed roll, adds a Vienna all-beef dog or Polish sausage, then puts on a neon-green sweet relish, tomatoes, onion, pickle, hot "sport" peppers, and celery salt. Served with a bunch of hand-cut fries, it's delicious.
If You Order One Thing
The other specialty item is the Italian beef. This sandwich takes a large piece of French bread, and fills it with thin-sliced roast beef, which has been simmering au jus. This is topped with hot or sweet peppers.
Great Dogs. Nothing fancy, but excellent, excellent Chicago-style (relish, cucumbers, hot peppers, tomato) dogs on poppy-seed buns. Great fries, too. Only complaint would be that sometimes person taking cash also makes the dogs without gloves. But, after all, this IS hot dogs, not filet. So try it.
