Best Restaurant in Pgh!!!.
I travel all over the country and can tell you, this restaurant is as great a place as you will find!!!
Great selection of Italian favorites, wonderful fresh fish, and steaks that are better than any of the local steak houses.
Every time I come into town I have to make at least one trip there. I try other places and just end up wondering why. Oh yea, Joe (chef/owner) will make the experience even better!! Don't forget to have a meatball, there the best anywhere!!!!

ugh!!.
What a nightmare, first we started with a fly being poured out of the pitcher into my water glass..the waiter emptied the pitcher to refill mine and the 2 others that weren't poured as yet, but somehow forgot about the 1st glass poured from the fly in water pitcher!! Then my friend complained that her fish was chewy and she wasn't pleased with it, I tasted it and it was fishy to me. The waiter called out the chef who proceeded to tell my friend how many orders of the fish he sold that day and there were Drs. upstairs eating it (during this time), and everybody thought it was wonderful. Great, however there can always be a bad fish and 2 of us agreed that it was indeed unedible. Nothing was offered to replace the main course....the chef went on to hear compliments from those who were satisfied. Then to top off the evening, my friend alerted the staff when making the reservation that it was a "big" birthday that would be celebrating that evening...and to pay close attention to her friend (me). She mentioned my B'day when we walked in (wanting a nice table) and also at dessert time, urging me to order for my day. Nothing was done..not even a simple Happy B'day! How embarrasing...

What century is this?.
Three floors, two bathrooms with one stall each with the ladies on the second floor. Heavy, greasy, oversauced 1970s style food that the chef must have learned to cook from his great-grandmother.
Unless you want overpriced food buried in heavy sauces don't bother. The atmosphere is like a funeral parlor.
And I actually heard the owner instruct his Maître d' not to give a table to a particular server because the guest was a bigot.
There are a lot of fine 21st century restaurants out there with owners who don't cater to antebellum prejudice. Try them instead!

Best food in Pittsburgh.
Of all the restaurants in Pittsburgh, this one is by far the best. After tyring many of the "fine dining" places in the city and being disappointed with mostly all of them, it was a relief to finally find a place that knows quality food and what a fine dining experience should be.
As close to great food and service that one could get in Pittsburgh.

Updated classical French cuisine served in understated setting..
The Scene
The restaurant is a converted home, with dining rooms on both floors. The interior is quiet and understated, allowing diners to focus on the fine food. Service is attentive without smothering diners.
The Food
Updated classical French. Hors d'oeuvres include game pate en croute with venison, boar and squab, and white bean cassoulet with duck confit and smoked pork served in a puff pastry. The warm potato leek tart topped with grated truffles is exceptional. Main courses range from salmon in shallot cream sauce to seared venison tenderloin with roasted chestnuts. The menu gourmand--a five-course prix fixe--varies based on availability of product and whim of the chef, but includes an appetizer, salad, fish and meat courses, and a dessert medley. Excellent desserts made by Gina Swanson, the in-house pastry chef. Her creations are both delicious and visually appealing, and make for a great ending to an exceptional meal.
