The Scene
Inside and out, this property is romantic and brooding. A wrought-iron gate stands sentry in front of the imposing stone facade, while the interior showcases ornate chandeliers, carved fireplaces and four-poster beds. The home once belonged to Russell H. Boggs, who made his fortune in department stores. It maintains the character of a stately private residence from the magnate's opulent era.
The Details
The eight guest rooms all have private baths. Accommodations include spacious suites and executive suites. Despite the historic atmosphere, guests will find modern comforts such as kitchenettes and office space in some of the rooms. Cable TV and VCRs are also included. Views range from parkland to suburban vistas over what used to be the city of Allegheny. Continental breakfast is included with all stays. The B&B is just minutes from downtown.

My boyfriend took me to The Inn for my birthday weekend, and I could not have been more impressed. Jeff, one of the Innkeepers was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were also lucky enough to get a glipse of most of the rooms in the Inn, and each was creativley and tastefully decorated in a clssic victorian style. The room was quite large, and we had the smallest room!! It was the perfect weekend. I felt absolutely swept away. I will definately be returning!
Pros: Beautiful, great service, relaxing enviroment

Recently stayed at the Inn on the Mexican War Streets for a college football game weekend played at Heinz field. Its convenient location (a short walk to both PNC & Heinz) was just one of the pluses. The Inn is beautifully decorated and innkeepers Jeff and Karl are excellent hosts. Rooms and immenities were excellent. The public areas of the inn - particularly the large front porch. made it easy to mix and mingle with other friends who met up with us at the inn before and after game.
Pros: Close to Sports, Romantic, Good Hospitality
