Editorial Review for A & B Donuts & Bakery – by Sam Edelmann

The Scene
A classic doughnut shop and bakery with a small coffee counter and a huge bakery case stuffed with goodies.

The Donuts
The place is known for its doughnuts, which are light and airy. They come in all sorts of shapes and flavors, none of which are short of terrific. The French crullers are special here, which almost defy gravity, yet take care of any sweet-tooth requirements. Another favorite are the custard-filled, with real custard instead of the ordinary white, over-sweet fluff found elsewhere. The glazed and powdered-sugar raised are not too shabby either.

Flaky Pastries
Doughnuts are only the beginning here. Bowing to the Eastern European population of the area, A&B also makes a fine nut roll. The crust is flaky and light, and the filling is more nuts than sugar. And if that were not sufficient, they also make one of the best pound cakes in town. Cinnamon rolls and fruit danish are also very good.

This place is between the entrances to the Waterfront development, and a great place to stop.

Hint

Early in the morning, the doughnuts are hot and especially good.
