A trip back in time.. A great way to end a trip to the steel city. It was great to take a step back in time visiting an old school ice cream parlor. The ow\ner Ray was a great pleasure to talk to, My family had a great time there. A definite stop next time we are in the steel city. The staff was great as well as the throw back candies.

A Must See!. The ambience makes it. There are all the old-time ice cream favorites. Sundaes, cones, floats. There are great sugar-free choices, too.

Klavon's Ice Cream Parlor is just another reason why living close to the city is great. A sense of neighborhood and great neighborhood places like Klavon's are big reasons I love city living.

Step inside and whiz back to a simpler time to, say, oh, 1925.. The Scene
Klavon's (sounds like "glove-on," suggests the owner) is an old fashioned ice cream store. The store boasts an original 16-foot solid marble soda fountain, Coca-Cola bottle cap stools and original art deco decor. Back in the day, pharmacies sold ice cream as well as drugs, and old pharmacutical paraphenalia remains on display.

The Food
While a prescription can't be filled at Klavon's anymore, Pittsburgh's Reinhold's Ice Cream can be enjoyed with a selection of five flavors of real whipped cream (vanilla, chocolate, ameretto, and two changing flavors). All the classics are served up including sundaes, sodas, real milkshakes, phosphates (for the old-timers) and egg creams (no eggs included).

If You Order One Thing
A favorite is the turtle sundae, and the moosetracks ice cream, which combines the favorite flavors of fudge, vanilla ice cream and peanut butter cups.

Love it!!!. I love this place. It is really a nice change from the ordinary. The inside feels like you came right from the 50s. The ice cream is pretty good but the floats are tremendous.
