The Scene – Nowadays, Catholics attending this renovated church won't find any confessionals; those were removed to make room for a kitchen in the early 1990s. But inside this impressive example of northern Italian-style architecture, folks of all faiths still glory in the stained-glass windows, vaulted ceilings and beautiful woodwork. The pews are now booth seating or have been reconstructed into the long bar. – – The Draw – At the site of the former altar stands large, gleaming stainless-steel brewing vats. Unique place- average food and beer

by jboxton

I have never seen a black in this place which is good, but the beer is average and warm, food is not that great and WAY overpriced. Not in a very great place as far as location. If you pass the place up and have to turn around you will pass a long row of houses with porch monkeys sitting outside staring at you. Scary.

  • Pros: You cant find a more unique place in the city
  • Cons: Beer and food are average, everything is sticky

dunkel with pizza - great combo

by psenevir

the only food I order here is the mushroom pizza - it's made fresh in a brick oven and tastes very good. I love the in-house brewed beer too. love the dunkel.

Beautiful Setting, Lousy Food

by BelleVon

We had wanted to visit this establishment for awhile and finely was able. Parking in the rear was great, the stained glass windows were stunning but the decor was over all very dingy. We ordered appe., entree and drinks. Never got the appe, buffalo meatloaf had no flavor, pasta was chewy. Beer was good. Service was not very good. Nice young lady but must have been her first job as a waitress. Clean up the place, maybe throw a little paint on the walls, train the staff, get a new chef, and drop the propaganda about the drink tax. Maybe we would return for another try.

  • Pros: Available parking, beer and concept isneat especially the beautiful stained glass windows
  • Cons: horrible food and otherwise dingy decor
