For nearly 80 years, Poli's has specialized in seafood. Mineo's serves traditional pizzas, while Pino's Kitchen creates less conventional ones. New Dumpling House features dim sum on weekends, Kazansky satisfies that corned beef craving, and relaxing on the patio at Sweet Basil is a lovely way to end a shopping expedition.

The Stores
Variety is the catchword for Squirrel Hill with its diversity of shops: bargain CDs; upscale fashions at Charles Spiegel for men, Lintons for women, So Fun! for kids; and Eyetique's designer eyewear. Amid the shops are pharmacies, banks, florists, restaurants and two multi-screen movie theaters. At the other end of the shopping district, A Pleasant Present is actually two separate-but-equal gift shops across the street from each other in the 2300 block of Murray Avenue. The rainbow flag tips off GLBT shoppers and anyone with a camp sense of humor that this is not your mother's Hallmark store. Cards can be outrageous and the gifts unique.
