Editorial Review for Harris Theater – by David C. Madden
The Scene
Part of Pittsburgh Filmmakers' triumvirate of art houses, the Harris Theater is the only cinematic representative in the cultural district. The setup here is modest and straightforward. Outside you buy your ticket and walk under the marquee, through the glass doors to the lobby. The theater itself is narrow and high, room enough for a balcony and a good-sized screen. Chairs are red, plush and comfortable.
The Film Festival
Being that it's owned and operated by Pittsburgh Filmmakers, the Harris plays an integral part in the screenings during the Three Rivers Film Festival each November. Each of the organization's three theaters contributes something distinct--the Harris has the downtown location and the comfort to attract excellent films and large audiences.
